I think it's a little deeper than "Canadian politeness". What we've seen since the golden escalator is a professional class failing its most basic self-declared function.
Poilievre keeps making the point that he would govern like Trump. Canadian politeness and optimism makes many want to imagine this wouldn't be the case, but his intent is clear.

FFS! The RCMP Com. isn't saying they're willing to "open" the investigation (Poilievre here not so subtly suggesting one was ever opened), he's saying Poilievre should meet with the "brass" he disparaged to discuss his "despicable" comment. Poilievre has gone full on MAGA.
