We did our first session of the Political Education series last week, but you can join any of the other sessions! Register at the link in our bio. Tomorrow (7/14) at 2 p.m., we'll talk about how to build a strong union campaign. (1/2).

There will be a free shuttle to West Meadow Beach this summer July 4 to Labor Day weekend! Go to the Flexigo app and type the code "LIS2025" to access it. This project is run by SBU researchers using a Sea Grant.

July 14 and 28 will be hands-on & hopefully directly applicable in solving day-to-day problems of union work! (5/5).

The other two sessions (July 14 and 28) will cover practical aspects of union organizing ��� one-on-one conversations, mapping departments/workplaces, planning & organizing campaigns, escalations, and more. (continued in next reply) (4/5).

The book also discusses major shortcomings in US labor unions. Reading the book, while encouraged, is not required for attending any of the sessions – we will provide relevant excerpts & overview of main ideas, followed by guided discussion on some of the questions raised. (3/5).

Two sessions (July 7 and 21) will discuss Class Struggle Unionism by Joe Burns. This book provides a broad perspective of the forces we fight against as workers. It outlines the strategic & tactical approach to unionism best suited to the struggle (continued in next reply) (2/5).

This Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. many of our community groups will rally to abolish the possibility of being a billionaire! They'll meet at Coopers Beach, Meadow Lane, Southampton. This is just one of many events tomorrow saying "no kings!" and an end to this class disparity.

To that point, over 70% of TAs and GAs at Stony Brook are union members. The raises & victories in this contract reflect this collective struggle. As we continue to push for more raises in 2026 and beyond, we need to maintain and increase our strength through membership.💪(6/).
