#GPS is an incredible US taxpayer value. There are 6 active GPS satellites that have been operational more than 20 yrs. The oldest was launched in 1997. I believe the original satellite design life was 7 yrs. What a great success story. #GNSS #GIS.

Wrap-up on extreme #solarstorm Fri-Sat-Sun, on hi-accuracy #GNSS in the north lats:. SBAS - Fri was brutal. 6m+ horiz, 28m+ vertical err. Sat/Sun normal. RTK - lots of low-end RTK rcvrs not FIXing, esp. drones. Legacy RTK rcvrs performed normal. Experience counts. #GPS #GIS

The worst #solarstorm for #GNSS since the 2003 storms. WAAS/SBAS is tanking. Beware to those #GIS and #precisionag folks using WAAS for mapping high-accuracy and expecting the usual < 1m error. 1st image was around 3p PT. The 2nd was about 5p PT. Worse earlier in the day.
