So what I've been doing for the last few months AKI modding wise is creating "WCW Saturday Night" using WM 2000 as a base with a 88-94 era roster. It involves porting VPW2 files, converting Revenge graphics, and seeing what limits I can do with

's VPW Studio.

Quick note/spoiler. I'm going in a different direction with some of the unlockables in Wrestlemania X. There will be some playable managers, but there will also be "EX" versions of some characters with different movesets and stats.

Been an off week for working on this project, but now I'm working on the arenas. Any thoughts on changing the main Raw/Heat arena to this mish mash of ideas? I wanted to go for a neon light titantron frame. I'm not sure if I can change the ropes to 3 colors, though.

Quick note. When making the roster for WCW Worldwide, I make a rule to only make a manager if they have a moveset from when they wrestled. This was because of limited roster spaces as well as getting the chance to make wrestlers I wouldn't normally make.

Some face progress. Crush and Savio took a little work, but came out better than I expected. I was suprised with Goldust, because the WM2k face paint graphics have a weird palette deal that you have to work around.

Finishing up with the stages. These are pretty much just reskins of the current ones, and in WM2K there was a lot less to work with. After this, it's just some minor tasks and hopefully a release soon. Amd yes, I will recycle as much from WCW Revenge as I can!

I think I'll make a New Generation/post Hogan/WWF Raw era game. Mostly because I can add Vpw2 ports (like Bart Gunn, Hakushi), Revenge ports (like Bret Hart, Perfect, Bulldog), and others I always wanted to make (like Owen Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow)

I replaced the rumble pak text at the start screen with MK style hints to get the unlockables. It's pretty much the same way as the WM2000 unlocks with different characters.
(also, seeing the twitter insanity tonight, I shouldn't have waited until Sunday night to post)

One of the things that bugged me about WM2k is that Michael Hayes and Jerry Lawler were both given generic movesets. Like with Hayes in WCW SN, I'm going to redo Lawler's moveset. I even have the N64 cart with CAW I did it for many years ago.

Still working a bit with the faces (slightly edited Mideon's to make him less depressed), but I like how these came out. They would have been in WCW Saturday Night, but I ran out of character spaces. I really wanted to add them as Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce.

I cheated a little here, since I used PCO's face from TripleM's IWS No Mercy mod. I try to avoid doing using other games, except when I get really stumped. I really wanted to get the Quebecers in here! Also, fixed Jacques' face to give him a cocky heel smirk.

Currently I have 16 characters completely edited and coded in the rom and several moves imported from No Mercy to WM2000. I'll probably make "official" roster announcements in the future as I fill up roster rows.

Why does everyone seem to forget that no matter how a new story or vision changes a character, all the old stories are still there and haven't dissappeared. Nothing is ruined, especially childhoods.

One last thing I keep forgetting to mention. A side reason that I've been working on these retro projects for WM2k is that I eventually want to make a legends mod for VPW2. Most of the graphics for WM2k and VPW2 are interchangable, making this good prep work.
