3 of the great sporting sights:
1. Watching Ronnie O Sullivan.
A magician
2. Tiger Woods in his prime.
3. Ruby Walsh coming down the hill 3f out at Cheltenham cruising on a horse you backed.
Have to say I adore watching
@JohnnyDineen
.
He’s a breath of fresh air. So funny.
Says what he thinks.
Hilarious at times.
Himself and
@DavidJenningsRP
make some double act.
Keep up the great work lads
👍👍👏👏
For Willie to achieve what he has is mostly down to hard work over a long time, not just because he has rich owners.
His first winner was 36 years ago.
He wasn’t handed his Dad’s yard at Goresbridge as Tom trains there.
His first gallop was a small round one of maybe 3f.
Is the DRF the perfect racing festival ?
Can’t be far off the best
🔸2 days (ideal)
🔸Not expensive
🔸Amazing racing
🔸Atmosphere will be magic
🔸Great racecourse / facilities
🔸Easy access to great nightlife
🔸Sat & Sun of a long weekend
Only 218 day's until the 2023
@CheltenhamRaces
Festival 😃
But, after years of ducking and diving the Twitter world, I have decided to embrace the madness that comes with Twitter.
Follow me for some great racing chat going forward 🏇

Just finished the final episode of
Fool Me Once on Netflix.
🙄 very ordinary stuff.
More over-hyped than Mister Policeman was for the Arkle.
Handicap ratings:
Breaking Bad 184
Fool Me Once 88
Bumped into my pal Dave at Fairyhouse. One of the good guys.
He’s getting younger looking.

Best of luck to Upping The Ante that starts back this evening 👏👏
Facile Vega yesterday was 4 seconds (16L) quicker than State Man to the 3rd.
24L quicker to the 4th, 5th & 6th and 28L quicker to the 7th.
60L in a furlong.
Novice hurdle finished 16L ahead (taken from the starter).
Both races the same time from the last which is interesting
People who say it’s too early to be talking about NH racing for this season can take a run and jump.
There has been chat about next year’s 2,000 Guineas (May 2024) for months.
There will be more interest in a horse like Facile Vega jumping a fence than there was in the Derby.
Will Willie Mullins winning the British trainers title be the greatest achievement of his career ?
That or 100 winners at Cheltenham.
Or 18 Irish titles shortly.
All within 7 weeks of each other.
Amazing stuff really.

If you owned Vauban, would you ever run him over hurdles again ?
He doesn’t jump very well and he could earn a lot of money on the flat.
Melbourne Cup and Ascot Gold Cup on the agenda you’d think
Want to know
@gelliott_racing
next young star ?
Listen to today’s chat with Gordon.
Also asked about:
Delta Work - Cross Country ✅
American Mike - Ballymore ✅
And yes that exciting young horse named Found A Fifty.
Gordon is so relaxed and always happy to have a chat.
At the sales on Monday at Tattersalls, thought it was a measure of the man that Willie Mullins, as far as I’m aware, didn’t bid on any horse that Gorodn was training.
Hard to beat Class 👏👏👏
Huge congrats to Jack Kennedy winning his first Jockey’s Title.
A brilliant jockey and he seems a super fella too.
What a talent he is at 25.
At a time when Willie is so dominant, I’m sure Paul will say well done.
👏👏👏
Just bumped into Keith Donoghue.
Super fella.
I spoke to him about prize money at Cheltenham. Keith wasn’t complaining but he received just over £3k nett for winning the cross country this year on Delta Work.
Seems very small amount for winning a race at pinnacle of NH racing.
What a horse.
He didn’t deserve that end.
When the spring arrived, he was such a battler.
His 2 pertemps final wins plus others were all about heart.
He was blessed with a good engine but he definitely knew he was in a race (some horses know) and he wanted to win.
Very sad.
Throwback Tuesday - Patrick Mullins
Last seasons Hunters Chase ride on Billaway is what I consider Patrick's finest ride.
Traded at 20s in running, Patrick never gave up & the horse responded to sprout wings & get up late.
Would love to see 3 options in replays on
@RacingTV
1. Full race
2. Finish
3. All jumps plus last 3 furlongs - similar to the one below 👇
Anyone agree ?
Cheltenham has come in for some stick in the past couple of years.
Some of it is justified but we should remember that it’s the best 4 days of NH racing each year.
It’s brilliant & will be again this year.
There are always great stories & great performances.
Have a blast 👍 🎉
Can’t wait for the Masters
2nd best multiple day sports event each year for me
1. Cheltenham 2. US Masters
3. British Open 4. DRF
5. Tour De France 6. Wimbledon
7. World Snooker Championship
4 great days ahead ⛳️⛳️
C’mon Rory
Enjoy
This is not a whinge but I’ve read recently where bookmakers have mentioned the fact that their turnover on horse racing is down.
Surely restricting thousands of accounts will eventually have that impact over time. 🤔🤔
Thoughts ?
Best of luck at Galway & Goodwood this week 🐎
Full credit to
@RTEracing
I think they’re coverage of racing is the best on TV
Not rushed, jumping from A to B to C
Great team
Proper conversations - informative, interesting and entertaining
All others should watch and try to learn
👏👏
Here is a list of horses that are joining British & Irish yards courtesy of Adam
@GeeGeeBanker
.
Going to spend today going through the 19 that are joining Willie
Paid off last year with first tip Lossiemouth winning the Triumph at 10/1
Impaire Et Passe (4/1) also came from 🇫🇷
Brilliant from Galopin.
10/10
If he didn’t come down at the last in the Turners when clear, he would be 7-7 going left handed since the Martin Pipe.
He’s good going right handed too but just something to note.
He’s class. What a performance.
23 lengths 👏👏👏👏
The first race this Sat in Naas has produced 4 out of the last 5 winners of the Boodles.
2023 Jazzy Matty
Won off 125 in Boodles
2022 Brazil
Won off 137 in Boodles
2020 Aramax
Won off 138 in Boodles
2019 Band Of Outlaws
Won off 139 in Boodles
A weekend of sport doesn’t get much better than this -
Fri 8pm France V Ireland 🏉
Sat Leopardstown 1.20 - 4.40 🐎
Sat 7.30pm Mayo V Dublin ⚽️
Sun Leopardstown 12.40 - 4.25 🐎
Sun 4.30pm Arsenal V Liverpool ⚽️
Thurs - Sun Pebble Beach Pro-Am ⛳️
Mon - Remember 🤔👏👏
Big news
5 racecourses - Thurles, Limerick, Roscommon, Kilbeggan and Sligo have rejected TV rights deal and will be shown on a different channel to the other Irish courses next year.
Willie getting to 100 winners yesterday was truly amazing.
He should win the Irish Sporstar of the year award.
We also the other side of racing yesterday with Langer Dan winning again off 141.
Have we to go through another winter of bullshit excuses from Dan Skelton.
Hope not.
Ellaat trained by Charles Byrnes was banned by the stewards today In Gowran Park (5.25 race) for 90 days.
Charles was fined €6,000.
Gearoid Brouder, Jockey was suspended for 21 days.
Just watched it.
Not good 🫣🫣
According to the stewards they broke Rule 212A(i) - not
My top 10 performances at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival
No. 1 A Plus Tard
For me the Gold Cup is the race of the year and A Plus Tard demolished the field with that turn of foot of his to win by 15L.

No. 7 Vauban
In a strong renewal of the Triumph Hurdle, Vauban oozed class to win easily.
Looks a classy recruit to hurdling.

Imagine 2 bookmakers cut Telmesomethinggirl for the Mares Chase after that jumping display.
😳😳
She’s a really lovely mare but she won’t be winning the Mares Chase
People talk about Chepstow being the start of the NH season.
I disagree
For me it’s the 2 day
@punchestownrace
meeting being held this year on Oct 10th & 11th
Last year we had winners like
• Marine Nationale
• Galvin
• Adamantly Chosen
• Cool Survivor
2 weeks tomorrow 👏

No. 2 Honeysuckle
Not since Dawn Run, have we seen a better mare.

Down in Cork for one last preview night.
Got to meet Maughreen.
What a gorgeous mare.
She has an amazing temperament.
She’ll make a super novice next season.
Don’t go to the Canaries if your looking for a value family holiday.
Try Budva in Montenegro
Fly to Dubrovnik
Savage value. Lovely spot
The 10 min taxi yesterday to the old town was €6
Don’t worry I gave him a tip
Henry’s in the last in Kilbeggan !
He seemed happy enough 😂😂
🐎 Nerd alert🐎
3 of the last 4 winners of the four year old novice hurdle tomorrow
@NaasRacecourse
(1.05) went on to win the Boodles in March -
✅ 2019 Band Of Outlaws
✅ 2020 Aramax
✖️ 2021 Druids Altar
✅ 2022 Brazil
Tomorrow’s race is for horses rated 130 or less.
Friday at
@Downroyal
-American Mike v Letsbeclearaboutit
-Grade 3 mares novice hurdle
-Pied Piper v Fil Dor
-Mighty Potter jumping fences
-Better Days Ahead winning a bumper
What more could you want !! 🕺
Feronily going from bumpers to winning a Grade 1 over fences in the same season just shows how crazy it is to waste time in bumpers for a full year with good point to point winners.
Some horses with a point to point at 4 and might not see a fence again until they’re 7 - seems
Thoughts and prayers this morning with the de Bromhead family after their devastating loss.
So so desperately sad.
Worst news I’ve heard of in years.
RIP
Having been asked, here are the ante post selections I have given to members for Cheltenham in March over the past 5 weeks:
Shoot First 12/1 - Pertemps
Lossiemouth 10/1 - Triumph
Minella Cocooner 8/1 - B Advisory
Chemical Energy 10/1 - NH Chase
Mighty Potter 5/1 - Turners
Willie has had many brilliant horses over the years including Hurricane Fly, Florida Pearl, Vautour, Douvan, Energumene, Allaho, Faugheen, Annie Power, Un De Sceaux, Quevega, Al Boum Photo etc etc but currently
Galopin Des Champs deserves to be No.1
While we can’t watch Tiger or Roger Federer or Usain Bolt or Messi at their best anymore, isn’t it great that we can still appreciate Ronnie O’Sullivan being brilliant at the age of 47.
A joy. A legend.
8 would be great
Complete dominance from Willie Mullins at the DRF
8 Grade 1’s out of 8.
I suppose 7 different owners helps a little.
For competition sake it’s a pity that he is so far ahead.
A genius and it ain’t changing any time soon.
🐴 Throwback Tuesday 🐴 Overall winner
For me the best ride I’ve seen at the Cheltenham Festival was the unique Paul Carberry on Bellvano in the Grand Annual in 2012
See how much rope he gave them 4f out (Red cap)
Amazing ride
Amazing pilot
You may be interested to hear how an Animal Rising representative responded when I asked him on
@bbc5live
what their plan was for the 50,000 thoroughbreds in the UK if they achieved their goal of having horse racing banned. Very revealing indeed.
#StandUpForRacing
Honeysuckle confirmed for the Mares Hurdle.
Looks like a cracking race on paper with possibly:
Honeysuckle
Epatante
Marie’s Rock
Brandy Love ?
Love Envoi
Echoes In Rain
Could be 3/1 the field on the day if they all show up 🤞
What Dylan Kitts did at Worcester was terrible but hopefully the BHA find out who else was involved as he didn’t come up with that idea on his own.
Would seem totally unfair if he is the only one suspended
Have a read of this.
This is courtesy of the Racing Post.
Karloss’s owners were behind Charles on the way to the races, the horse slipped in the trailer & the owners took him home.
Charles used to own the horse Anyway that won the race (25/1 to 1/1).
Some craic 🫣🫣🫣
Starting to think that Ballyburn will run in either the Supreme or the Baring Bingham in March for the following reasons:
1. He’s a horse
2. He’s not a mare so they won’t allow him run in those races (unless he chooses to identify as a mare)
3. Owner Ronnie doesn’t like the 3m
As punters we should always remember how brave jockeys are everyday to risk life and limb for a sport that we all love.
Heartbreaking.
Graham - legend.
Very sad when a horse like Sire Du Berlais passes.
We’ve seen him for years & we all liked him a lot.
A great horse with a brilliant will to win (best attribute).
Horses love to run.
If you asked him - your getting on a bit - do you want to retire or race ?
He’d say race.
Magic few days as always at Cheltenham
Very happy with ante post selections:
Lossiemouth Won 10/1
Impervious Won 7/1
Impaire Et Passe Won 4/1
El Fabiolo Won 6/4
Byker ew 14/1
Stumptown ew 8/1
Filey Bay ew 12/1
Overall profit of 8.5 points to a 1 point stake, ROI of 30% 🐎

& myself.
Between us we have ridden over 120 festival winners.
That’s an average of 30 each 😳😂
Boom 💥
See you there
A moment at Meydan this evening, as Saffie Osborne became the first female jockey to ride a winner at Meydan as Ouzo who is trained by her Dad Jamie came with a perfectly timed run.
Brilliant ride. 👏👏
In a normal year, we may have a hotpot in a novice hurdle at Cheltenham like the Supreme or Ballymore but this year its very different.
On the exchanges, nearly 4/1 the field in the Supreme and Ballymore and nearly 6/1 the field in the Bartlett.
No harm. More interesting.
Champ Kiely was about 74L quicker than Cadatharla carrying 7lb more.
Shows the difference in grades.
He was 2 seconds quicker (8L) & covered a furlong & 25 yards more (66L).
He was roughly 18L quicker than Hunters Yarn comparatively.
Not saying to back him but it’s interesting
We proudly presented a cheque for €176,000 to Cancer Trials Ireland yesterday at
@curraghrace
.
Thanks so much to everyone who donated, cycled or helped out with the Coast To Curragh cycle on Aug 27th 👏
That’s over €350,000 raised in 2 years. Incredible.
Sat Aug 26th next year
Amazing achievement by Willie Mullins.
Having to go for races in the past 2 weeks has gained him big race wins he may not have gone for.
What a team (staff & horses) he has.
Gigginstown leaving was one of the best things to have happened his yard.
6/4 fav to do it again next
Huge congrats to my better half, Ann Marie, for getting her first book published. A great achievement.
It’s called Understanding Learning Differences.
So if you think your child has a learning difference then maybe it’s worth a read.

Full marks to
@NavanRacecourse
for moving the bumper to the third last race on Saturday presumably to let the sun move further around and hopefully the 2 chases will be able to jump all fences.
👏👏👏👏
Here’s a question for you.
Is Cheltenham the best racecourse in Britain or Ireland ?
View of the track, atmosphere, facilities, seats, the racecourse itself, access in and out, food, drink etc ?????
You gotta love National Hunt racing.
There’s always some great stories.
A horse like Hewick that only cost €850.
Incredible.
Lovely heart-felt interview by the Shark.
It’s going to be an emotional season.
Would be great to see Hewick line up in the Gold Cup in March. 👏👏
G’day.
On behalf of Western Australia Racing we are delighted to have horses from the Willie Mullins yard in Perth today and wish him all the best in trying to win the Australian Trainers title.
