Wake Forest sports journalist- Drugs are worthless compared to the high of finding fun little baseball stats - contributor
@247Sports
and Demon Deacon Digest.
There’s something I love about this picture from Adam Cecere’s Instagram.
Two guys who frankly, should’ve been drafted last year, proving everyone wrong and kicking butt.
MLB, do NOT look over these guys.
When I came in, I went to the Vax-card tent and the Athletic Director, John Currie was the one who was out there with the crew checking for vaccination. True leadership.
@John_Currie
Sam Hartman will kneel out a win in the 2022 Gasparilla Bowl for his final game as a Wake Forest Demon Deacon.
He will leave Wake Forest as the greatest quarterback in school history.
Wake now has six incoming transfers committed:
-Seaver King- INF - Wingate
-Cameron Gill- C - Wofford
-Austin Hawke- IF - UNC
-Mitchell Salvino- OF- Washington & Lee
-Will Schomberg- P - Davidson
- Tate Ballestero- INF/C - St. John's
I don’t know about you, but I actually feel a little bit better with what just happened than if Wake had come in and taken care of business.
You get an inexperienced QB like Griffis extremely valuable experience in serious adversity.
Well done, Money Mitch.
Rhett Lowder comes in as the
#2
prospect in the Cincinnati Reds’ system, and the
#44
prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline’s new rankings.
Congratulations
@lowderrhett
!!
Sam Hartman is a man of the utmost character and decency.
He did so much for Wake Forest. He’s the portrait of a Demon Deacon.
He deserves your support, and he deserves your congratulations on a phenomenal college career.
I want to give some love to someone who seems to be going under the reader lately.
Over his last 12 appearances, Blake Morningstar has allowed no homers, and just three earned runs with a 2.38 ERA in that span.
That’s really good.
Wake Forest baseball landed the commitment of 2025 2B/SS Gustavo Meléndez yesterday.
Meléndez is the top 2025 college prospect out of Puerto Rico.
Welcome to Deactown
@gustymelendez
!!
Dix is ranked 7th via
@ProspectsLive
for 2024 MLB Draft HS prospects.
He’s ranked as the top player in the state of Wisconsin.
He was formerly committed to Alabama, but he Decommitted on August 27th.
Sunday Night baseball on ESPN was just talking about Matt Olson and the fact that his dad went to Wake Forest, which leads to a few comments on the impressive Wake Forest Baseball team.
Pretty cool.
It cannot be overestimated the role that the creative team has played this year not only in media, but in fan engagement. People come to games because they see this stuff.
Clawson on recruiting (🧵):
“We’ve turned down 4-star players here because we didn’t think they would fit our school and our program from a values system-wise.”
This is the most heartbroken I’ve ever been over a sports moment.
I attended nearly every single home game this season and some of the away ones.
Thread, btw.
Don’t think there’s ever been a one-year player for Wake Forest Football that I’ve liked more than
@TurnerKobie
.
Phenomenal season. He deserves to play on Sundays.
DT Kobie Turner on his time at Wake: “These guys have taken me in. It’s been a family. To help these guys win this game was really big to me. It’s meant so much to be a part of this team with so many great leaders. I’m just blessed.”
The Deacs RUN RULE Boston College in game one of the series!
Seaver King led the Deacons’ offense, but every starter had at least one hit.
Wake Forest 13
Boston College 1
FINAL (8 inn.)
Just a reminder: the 2023 LSU team that became national champions lost midweek games to Louisiana Lafayette and Nicholls.
2022 Ole Miss lost midweeks to Southeastern Louisiana and Southeast Missouri.
It happens.
Forget about it, and don’t let it happen again.
Atrocious.
Not much you can say about that. Wake made mistakes, sure.
But that game was taken out of the Wake players’ hands. There’s no excuse for that.
Changes need to be made, but
@theACC
won’t make them. No accountability.
Unbelievable. Wake doesn’t get hosting rights.
Give me a legitimate reason why a 40-17-1 team in the hardest conference in baseball, with the 6th RPI in the freaking NATION doesn’t get a regional.
To be clear:
I am always on Dave Clawson’s side. He’s proven himself enough for me to trust him. I will not blame him for this game, and frankly, knowing him, he won’t ever give me a reason to.
I’m all in with Dave.
Phenomenal season for the Diamond Deacs.
You hate that it ended like it did, but overall I’d say that it was absolutely a huge success of a season.
I Love all the guys, and I can’t wait for next year.
