Hep B/C in women/🤰@TatyanaKushner WHO 🌎 health strat (‘22-‘23): goal to ⬆️ vax, dec vertical transmission (⬆️ risk with ⬆️ viral load, HCV/HIV coinfxn, ⬇️access/knowledge/policies). ⬆️ data for HCV tx in 🤰upcoming. 4.5 mil HBV and 0.1-4.1% HCV births annually (⬆️ w geo/IVDU).

Women & EtOH use, Dr Jessica Leigh Mellinger: ⬆️ rates in EtOH use ➡️ driven by women. D/t: feminization of EtOH, “self care” 🍷🍸🍹. ⬆️ risk of cirrhosis in women w ANY amt of EtOH use. <40 yo F w ⬆️ posttransplant mortality. NO quick fix- need multifactorial tx approach 🔀.

PBC/AIH in minority women by @lilydaramd: early studies DON’T look at race/ethnicity➡️modern era w/⬆️ awareness. AIH: black pts present younger w/ more adv fibrosis. PBC: Latinx pts present at adv stages w/ more variant/overlap dz. Need: ⬆️ access to care, diversity of care team.

Sex Diff in Liver Cancer by Dr Nicole Rich: gap in M>F HCC prevalence is ⬇️; overview of sex hormone hypothesis & female ⬇️ in liver Ca trials. ⬆️ burden of NAFLD-HCC in women. Early diagnosis/screening🟰imp for survival, however women w/ cirrhosis often unrecognized.
