Against my better judgement the ILD pulmonologist started drawing MDA5 on all ILD pts. Rheum literature says seen only in DM. Now agree should be part of ILD panel. I guess a person has to be wrong at least once in life to stay humble 😎

I was intrigued that he mentioned MDA5 ILD without rash but did not elaborate. We are finding some MDA5 ILD pts without DM
To all the pulmonologists out there: Which ILD patients should be screened for myositis? Dr. Aggarwal says ALL of them! ILD is very commonly the presenting manifestation of antisynthetase syndrome, MDA5, and other myositides. Do a myositis panel! #ILDtwitter #Pulmtwitter #ACR20

I went to this plenary presentation and it made the investigators feel better but not the patients. What we need in Sjogrens is a medication that patients and not statisticians tell us it works.
I missed this one during #ACR19 (found via @RheumNow's weekly roundup): Abstract L19: Early study, but BAFF inhibitor Ianalumab met its primary endpoint in primary Sjogren's. https://t.co/HlYpyQL2Xs

I think there is enough evidence that hyperuricemia is an independent risk factor for mortality in CAD or progression in CKD that it should be addressed in these pts. I should have attended the guideline session to raise my concern but was watching whale sharks instead
Primary care providers - take a look at these new gout guidelines. They're very straightforward, and your patients will do much better than if you follow the ACP guidelines. #ACR19

Agree but a MGUS of 1.5 g/dL makes me a bit nervous unless my metric system is off

#ACR19 Medicare costs for biologic medications have risen by 5 billion dollars in recent years mostly driven by medication price increases over the years. Cost in Netherlands is 1/10 the cost of same drugs in USA. Unbelievable!!
