Our assemblage of Roman building material from our site in Caerleon is growing! Items include this fragment of tegula or brick with the impression of a legionary stamp. The letters 'LEG. ' can just be seen, and when complete would have read LEG II AVG (Legio II Augusta) #Roman

Undertaking work for @NewportCouncil on the regeneration of the Fourteen Locks on the Crumlin arm of the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal. The Fourteen locks also known as the Cefn flight, was completed in 1799. It was built to transport iron & coal to the docks at Newport.
