The beauty of ex-cricketers now calling for Bumrah’s head is that nobody said a thing when this was first leaked in the press. Many of them even wanted him to captain in those 3 Tests he would play!.

There’s no reason that Kohli shouldn’t play the 27 WC. There’s only one player who can replicate his skillset in the team and that is Gill. Getting clubbed with the other guy has been extremely harmful. I have some hot takes about the team for 27 but those are for another time.

Dropping is fine but Gambhir did absolutely nothing to deserve credit. Benched a talented batter like Dhruv Jurel for 4 tests by pigeonholing him into “Backup WK” role and left Sarfaraz who would’ve suited team and conditions well at home because of personal vendetta.
Say what you want but Gambhir did a great job by dropping the two liabilities in Kohli and Rohit. They both needed to be gone. Our batting became better after that and it showed in this series.

I will do top 5 because I will need to think too much to order the rest. Tendulkar ,Gavaskar ,Kohli, Dravid in order and you can slot in Bumrah anywhere in this top 5 depending on how much you value longevity.

Should sweep at home including against Australia but maybe one draw there. SL should be winnable too. NZ we’re getting swept. Need a 10-1-2 or better record if we’re a serious team. Anything less is an underperformance for the quality of players we possess.

Gabba had worse external circumstances but in isolation, defending 374 from 332-4 is a once in a lifetime kinda win. It’s a the type of event you fantasize about but every other time, the two overnight batters knock it off. Oval 2025 is the best Indian win that I’ve watched live.
