Women and girls are left to suffer in pain because of a lack of awareness from medical professionals, according to a new report from MPs. It found those who experience painful health conditions, like endometriosis and adenomyosis, are being dismissed when they ask for help.

#Endometriosis is a condition that by definition also exists outside of your #uterus. It means, that neither a hysterectomy (removing the uterus), nor endometrial ablation (destroying the lining of the uterus), are correct treatments. #hysterectomy #endo

(Forgotten tweet) was referred to local hospital for right sided groin pain and a raised lymphnode aged 22. Was told by the registrar I was a complete waste of his time and sent away after 3 mins into consultation

16/ So I now have no where to turn, #BSGE centre have washed their hands of me, GP has no clue and told me my pain is a mix of physical and psychological issues and thinks pregnancy will cure all (it wont). I'm still in agony, ovary is likely stuck again and I have given up

15/ she palpated my stomach and did an excruciating internal examination resulting in me screaming out in pain and crying. I was asked why I was being emotional. Sent on my way with the contraceptive pill (I didn't want) and codeine (I can't take due to bowel issues)

14/ Asked to attend GP surgery and saw GP with no knowledge of #endometriosis who told me I needed to stop ovulating, to get pregnant, and the reason why I didn't want hormones (the pill) was because psychologically i saw it as another barrier to getting pregnant

12/ At 6 week follow up biopsies came back as mostly fibrosis so just like that I was discharged from #BSGE centre with no follow up, told to go on the pill and get referral to pain clinic or back to BSGE centre when I start to struggle again

4/ Local gynae team totally dismissed me, saying ultrasound was clear and it wasn't #endometriosis, it was #ibs. Sent away with mebeveraine for 6 months

2/ Spent the next 7-8 years dealing with incontinence and bladder pain as I didn't want to go back to GP. Put off going to the gp about constant pelvic pain due to fear of being dismissed
