Today in 1962: the National League rejected an idea proposed by Commissioner Ford Frick for interleague play in 1963. The concept was initially proposed six years earlier by Detroit GM Hank Greenberg who suggested teams play 28 of their 154 games against the other league.

Born today in 1928: Joe Nuxhall. The youngest player in #MLB history: 15 years and 316 days old. In June of 1944, he debuted for the #Reds during World War II, when young and old players would sometimes fill in for players fighting overseas. He made his 2nd start 8 years later.
