In 2016, I foresaw getting few-to-none of my priorities addressed until probably the 2030s. 2020-2021 gave me hope that America had survived its Erdogan moment. In 2024 it's turned out that we're not actually better than this.

What we can be assured of is that the wealthy will get more tax cuts. It's hard to imagine that this version of the GOP doesn't use the moment as a mandate to seriously curb benefits.

If Trump follows through on mass deportations and tariffs, we are legit looking at a 2008 or 1929 level of economic crash. I somewhat expect that cooler heads will shower lobbyist money around to curb the extent of those policies, but we'll still get plenty of it.
