@mileslunn This is a standard trope of the privateers: that others are clinging to the status quo, and things are so bad that what do we have to lose. • No one says status quo is adequate • We have evidence on what would help • Evidence shows ⬆️ privatization makes things worse

@dockevinmcleod That's one reason. Another is that they generally spend more on social programs (paid for by higher taxes) that reduce demands on the healthcare system and, therefore, healthcare costs. Cannot just cherry-pick this one difference and say that's *the* reason.

Calandra removing trustees to sell off school properties with Lecce's realestate bill 98. ➡️The words “reading,” “writing,” & “math” featured only twice. ➡️“literacy” appears once. ➡️“property” 21 times. ➡️“sale” 11 times. ➡️The word “lease” 15 times.
Watch. As Lecce decimated public eduction funding below rate of inflation by $6.35B or $1,500 per student, Calandra's bill 33 replaces elected trustees making $8,000 to $30,000 annually with a Ford Insider making $350,000 annually+$40,000 expense account. https://t.co/kAS5srw0Zy

How can the minister of education be so woefully unprepared for such predictable questions. Is it because there simply aren’t any defensible answers?

Ford walked out of meeting with Education Minister Lecce and Labour Ministers while working on an alleged dictatorship with a #Notwithstandingclause that would've fined each striking worker $4,000 a day and dismantled collective bargaining across Canada. https://t.co/RJT3aq71NL

Stephen Lecce's bill 28 #Notwithstandingclause that forced a contract on CUPE made the British papers. “Canadian bill would fine each worker $4,000 for each day they strike” is the headline in the Guardian. https://t.co/4gvLhzbsLV

According to a recent survey, 51.9% of Canadians are still choosing to buy Canadian products over other options. I know I'm one of them. Are you? 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

Just 3 days after special education advocates launched “Better Call Paul” campaign urging parents to call Ed Minister Calandra with questions & concerns, he ordered school boards to create “student and family support offices” to field those very questions. https://t.co/DaDRiLMvHI
After listing off a litany of Ford government’s reversals & backtracks, @CityCynthia asks Municipal Affairs Minister Paul Calandra: “Does your government think before it acts?” https://t.co/JTUa9XzDor

We’re doing a case where a disabled single mom got behind in rent. LTB ordered eviction. Her church paid all arrears and costs before eviction. By law this stops the eviction, but LTB refused. Tens of thousands in legal work later we’re awaiting the next court hearing. The LTB
Stopping erroneous evictions once the process starts, particularly once it gets to the Landlord & Tenant Board, can be surprisingly difficult and arbitrary.
