That's based on $330 billion/year tax hike, or $3.3 trillion over 10 years, and 132,216,000 households. CBO wrongly says this money will reduce the deficit. It is more likely to fuel additional federal spending.

Wow, @USCBO suggests Trump's tariffs will cost taxpayers an average of $25,000 per household over the next 10 years, confirming the biggest peacetime tax increase in history.

I disagree with @USCBO on the deficit impact of import tax hikes. History suggests that politicians will spend this money faster than it comes in. There are already proposals to rebate the tariffs back to taxpayers, in addition to a bunch of other things like:.*pay for child care

Some smart person should comment on this: "I asked [Sir John Cowperthwaite] to name the one reform that he was most proud of. 'I abolished the collection of statistics,' he replied. Sir John believed that statistics are dangerous, because they enable social engineers of all.

This can't be right! The Trump administration has repeatedly promised that "if you build here you won't face any tariffs." (It's a lie.).

➑️Progress toward lower furniture prices stopped when Trump imposed 25% tariffs in 2018, and then prices skyrocketed during the pandemic. ➑️Some workers were harmed by our freedom to buy affordable furniture imports. But a policy that benefited 99.53% of the American workforce.
