Our research illustrates that people feel lonelier in some countries than others during midlife. It also sheds light on reasons this may be occurring and how governments can address it with better policies.

Another thing I will carry forward is how Suniya pushed me and others to think about how to best communicate research findings to a broader audience. We always discussed the importance of conducting research that could benefit the greater good of society.

Whenever I needed someone to talk to about research and professional development, she always made herself available. Assistant Professor life can be tough and challenging. She was always there for me, looking out for me and providing wonderful advice.

When I first shared with Suniya the findings from our 2016 paper, we wrote the paper in 6 weeks. It was a whirlwind. We had nonstop discussions and met several times a week to discuss how to best communicate our findings.

I am forever grateful for Suniya’s friendship and mentorship. We had so many lively, engaging and wonderful discussions on research and the importance of family. The papers we published on #resilience from 2016-2018 will hold a special place in my heart.

One of many ways I celebrated receiving the NOA for my R01 this week. This grant was ND on the first two submissions, so I guess third time’s a charm. Very excited to begin work on this project examining cross-national differences in #midlife health, well-being and cognition.

From the abstract: An analysis of empirical posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) data is provided to show that the typical four-class solution found in many empirical PTSD studies may be an artifact of the covariance equality constraint method that has permeated this literature.
