South Africa's energy minister complained that President @CyrilRamaphosa had twisted his arm around regulatory reform for new power investments & then afterwards doubted its impact. Well here it is, minister: data published by @PresidencyZA today - a surge in new power projects.

Dark Days @Eskom_SA was bailed out in 2016, 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023. Yet loadshedding has intensified. @SAReserveBank estimates first-round effects of loadshedding will shave at least 2% off GDP this year. Indirect & induced costs will shave off more. HT @FrancoisFouche0
