One of the first deals I closed was over a glass of scotch in West Texas. No data room. No 53 page slide deck. Just trust. Paperwork came after the handshake. Bring back high trust society. We move faster that way.

can't tell you how many energy deals I've made happen by meeting some random person at a kids birthday party or in a gym in Houston. if you're trying to build an energy tech company in Silicon Valley, you were toast before you even started.

In 2018 Figma did $4M ARR. Soon after I had a VC job interview where I did a Figma case study. I built a model with Figma becoming a $19B company in 2025. I didn't get the job. They said my analysis was "unrealistic.". Thoughts on how the best companies compound unexpectedly. .

relying on HR teams to recruit is a good way to get cooked in the new world. we're already displacing recruiters with AI tools to fill top-of-funnel on candidates. plus you should care about talent density, not overall headcount. Find the best producers, comp them above.
@FracSlap This will end sooo badly lol nothing says drag like running your own payroll or having your executors interview hundreds of first round candidates. I get the POV, but man, you get to any scale and you will have some form of HR ops or you’ll be toast.
