Why is a shark not a dinosaur? 🦈 My Grade 3 class fromAlberta, Canada had great questions today, and we got to take a dive into phologenies, character mapping, and fossils! It was awesome to be able to share my own finds from Alberta and talk about dinosaurs local to the kids!

What does it take to get a fossil out of the rock? Visiting the @unescience Palaeo Labs, I’ve spent the past two weeks learning how to prep fossils: sieving shark teeth, operating on opalised fossils, touching temnospondyl teeth, and digging out Diprotodon (giant wombat) bones!
