On this day in 1903, the Wright brothers made history in Kitty Hawk, NC with the 1st successful powered flight in a heavier-than-air machine. Orvilleโ€™s flight lasted 12 secs and covered 120 ft, a moment that launched the age of aviation! โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ Image: Library of Congress

In Manhatta, later Manhattan, the Lenape lived in multi-family dwellings, unlike the smaller wigwams of Lenape in the Philadelphia region. This 1892 engraving shows a scene from 16th-century Manhatta. #NativeAmericanHeritageDay Image source: NYPL
