Aaah. Didn’t expect to start the morning with an electrical fault. Quickly pulled into the nearest farm gate on this busy rural road. A kind local farmer stopped by on his quad bike to ask if I was ok whilst I was waiting for the recovery truck. 🥰

You lovely lot 😍 We had a full house at the pay what you feel cafe on Saturday in spite of the wild weather! Thank you everyone who contributed musical talent, food, decorations, time, prep space, cash, creativity, or just being. You’re ace 🥰 #community #paywhatyoucan

This weeks produce, grown and then prepared with care, will be on the menu this Saturday - come to Totnes United Free Church between 12 and 2. Pay what you can, all welcome and there’s a fine festive musical line up too 💚🎄🎶 #foodhub #community #gleaning #farmtofork

💚 When there’s enough, charities across the county can have some. We are always on the lookout for more gleaning opportunities 💚 We always reserve some to make good food affordable for everyone, and raise funds to help our services to the community continue ⬇️

What happens to the produce our gleaners gather? 💚 Some is used for our hardship box, scheme helping families in the local area 💚 Some is donated to charities and community groups in areas of high deprivation ⬇️

Despite the cancellation of the week’s field gleans, it’s still been busy for our food collection teams. Good food is making its way to very deserving homes and charities across South Devon.

Waterlogged land makes harvesting impossible. Surplus can be created further down the supply chain if highly perishable food is delayed on its journey to people’s plates. But…

Storm Bert and its aftermath that ripples on for days afterwards, have really highlighted the expertise and hard work of producers and everyone working in the supply chain to keep food flowing for everyone 👍🏽🙏🏼
