Latest from the garden moth trap. From the 7th and before I feel ill. 3 new species were added to the year list, December Moth x2, Scarce Umber & a garden first Crocidosema plebejana. That makes it a record 675sp recorded here, with probably no new ones left now. East Cambs

Diurnea lipsiella today at work in East Cambs. The moth was flying next to me in the sunshine at 11am, no pot to hand sadly, but a few fuzzy record shots had to suffice. 2nd county record and not seen since 1998. No Oak in the vicinity, couldn't believe it!

666 for the year, o dear... stuck on that currently as we edge closer to Halloween. A Dusky-lemon Sallow turned up on Sunday night. Very little opportunity to run the trap now. Other highlights included Caloptilia semifascia, a nice Turnip & Musotima nitidalis. Fordham, Cambs

Macros (332) & Micros (331) are battling for top spot with 1 species in it for the year. Grey Shoulder-knot was new for the year on Thursday, but a tricky Epinotia (either caprana or maculana) was a super new for the garden. Cypress Carpet also returns. Fordham, East Cambs

Latest moths from my garden moth trap. It was a green theme on Saturday night with two returning Red-green Carpet, one being very vivid indeed (last seen in April) and the stunning Merveille du Jour, that doesn't really need an introduction! 656sp for 2025. Fordham, East Cambs
