I bought this book 12 yrs ago and have been waiting for a "good" time to start reading it. The time has come. It begins with the German/Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939, using the same pretenses we are hearing today. I hope the similarity ends there.

I’ve reported on behavior and mental health for 20 years. As I exit, I can’t help but wonder why researchers have placed so little emphasis on helping people in distress today.

Theres been intense interest in autoimmune models of T1 diabetes and islet transplants and stem cells. Yet, its glucometers, insulin pumps, CGM that saves lives in T1 diabetes. Engineering saves lives while discovery science presses on.

I once took care of a schizophrenic pt at the VA who had prostate CA and brachytherapy and a pacemaker/AICD. He was telling us docs had implanted a radioactive computer in him to monitor him. He was kinda right, actually.
