❗️ PUKAKI DOWNS WILDFIRE - 21/09/2023. Crews were called at 7.45pm last night to a scrub fire at Pukaki Downs, north of Twizel. Seven helicopters with monsoon buckets are now in operation.

Today, our first team of firefighters, incident management and helibase operations specialists returned home from Alberta, Canada after a massive month of mahi. 👏. We have two more teams still on the ground and we are continuing to look at how we can provide further support. ❤️

Another 21 Fire and Emergency personnel left for Alberta, Canada today as part of the second New Zealand contingent to help fight the high number of wildfires raging across the Western part of Canada. They will be joining 25 of our people already doing the mahi in Canada. 🚒🚁

The fire at the scrap metal yard on James Fletcher Drive in Favona, Auckland, is now out. It is now safe for residents to open windows and doors, and to run air conditioning and ventilation units. FULL UPDATE:
