The detail I love about this drawing that nobody has mentioned is how she's also severely whitewashed in the "fixed" design.
The way Rouge the Bat from the Sonic the Hedgehog series is discussed online is very annoying way that I don't think happens with any other character. Rouge is just not allowed to be.
