Despite their questionable effectiveness and many drawbacks, (eg real enforceability and public input) codes of conduct are proliferating in the tech world. I look forward to having a close look at those, and at the paths available for technology sectors to act more responsibly.

In line with the title ‘Critical Codes’, we’ll draw together key critiques of ethical codes of conduct with insights from various frameworks, as well as looking at alternative models to make codifications of ethics efforts more inclusive and effective.
