Student, poet and generally obsessed with language in a somewhat unhealthy manner - wordy, too 😁
Joined July 2020
Stages of studying Ancient Greek in immersion. My advice: Simple and direct language is usually a very good idea. Too much explicit politeness reeks of decadence and barbarism. 🧐 I'd say it's pretty much the same for Latin.

Also I made some shortbread (: It was entirely too sweet (if ever that were a true objection!) 🤣

Yay! It's been officially published! I am grateful to have worked on this dictionary together with many other people from Polis 🌹 It's an exhaustive, original and exciting lexicon, that I can recommend any scholar of the Greek language to acquire https://t.co/noNRsuYtSV

Imagine!!! Instead of Hört! Hört! Hört, Rachegötter! Hört der Mutter Schwur! One might translate the last 2 lines as: שְׁמַע! שְׁמַע! שְׁמַע, כֹּה נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי שְׁמַע, חֲמַת הַאֵם!

A thought - how absolutely terrifying and magnificent would the famous Queen of the Night aria (Mozart's Zauberflöte) sound if sung in Biblical Hebrew 😳

Χαλεπὸν τὸ μὴ φιλῆσαι· χαλεπὸν δὲ καὶ φιλῆσαι· χαλεπώτερον δὲ πάντων ἀποτυγχάνειν φιλοῦντα. - It’s difficult not to love and it’s difficult to love, but most difficult of all is to love in vain. Anacreontea

Absolutely, all the time! 😅 There are masterful writers out there - makes one feel small. It's a great blessing to live in a time where books are easy to get by; we partake in a canon and tradition that we have the privilege to learn from and enjoy to our heart's content
you ever read something so beautifully written you lowkey get jealous of the author's writing skills?? like you wish you had a way with words like they do

A little poll, because they're fun! If you could, with immediate effect, speak any language fluently, effortlessly and eloquently, what language do you choose?
