🎉 SEE YOU IN LAS VEGAS! 🎉
All right, I saw Infiltration’s “please take me back” post and presumed given the severity of his crimes, he’d be laughed out of the room, but I’m watching widespread defense including from big-name players who I otherwise deeply respect. So reluctantly, thread.
The only person who can forgive Infiltration is the woman he strangled and threatened to kill. Our responsibility is not to forgive—it is to SAFEGUARD current and future members of the community, and send a message that their FGC will NEVER tolerate abuse and abusers among us.
Infiltration physically assaulted his wife. He strangled her, which is statistically the biggest indicator that domestic abuse will escalate to murder. He verbally threatened to, in fact, kill her.
That is not an “oops.” That is a GLARING red flag and a warning. Any community that recklessly accepts a person back in because time has passed, the person harmed wasn’t a community member, and they want to “forgive” is NOT prioritizing the safety of community members, full stop.
Keep abusers the fuck out of my scene. Demand more in repentance than “it’s been a few years.” Put in the work if you want women to feel welcome. It starts here.
Some things matter more than being good at the game. And he was also racist & rigged tournaments, so yeah, stay gone.
There is no grief in Infiltration’s statement over harm done—only consequences he experienced. There is literally no apology included. The focus is all on how assaulting his wife harmed HIM; that’s the opposite of repentance, biblically or otherwise.
Yes, there were only 8 of us, and many of my bracket demons weren't there today, but I made it to Grand Finals winner's side for the first time ever and WON THE FUCKING LOCAL 3-1 NO RESET.
I WON MY FIRST LOCAL. LET'S FUCKING GO!!!!
I am a lifelong Christian, raised in church, adamant about my faith in Jesus Christ. Whether people automatically disbelieve me because I’m bisexual and in a long-term, loving, committed relationship with my girlfriend is out of my control—take it up with God. He and I are good.
What do you think it says to the community when you allow someone to just come back from something like that because time passed, when they can’t even form the words “I’m sorry”? It tells the women you keep saying belong in the FGC that their safety and comfort comes second.
This is defined not only as grief and regret for your actions, but sincere concentrated effort to change behavior going forward, repairing damage done when possible, and accepting necessary consequences.
And it tells bad actors that if they press buttons good enough, they can get away with anything, provided they wait a few years before trying to stage a comeback. I will stand on this. I don’t care how much hate I get for it. It’s too important.
As a woman, I have to speak on this. As a Christian, I have to speak on this. I’m not calling out anyone in particular here, but I am URGING the FGC to understand what’s at stake in this conversation. This shit poisons the well. It’s not just about Infiltration.
To the more established players in the FGC speaking out against this: Thank you. To the ones who want Infiltration back: I urge you to read up on the dynamics of domestic violence and preventing abuse in community spaces (like church) and reconsider.
I have many good friends who have dedicated their lives to exposing those predators and keeping religious spaces safe, as well as helping victims heal. I’m serious about this shit.
Proximity guard on charged sweep is HUGE for Marisa. No more walking back just waiting for a whiff for free. I’m convinced. We are FEASTING this patch.
#sf6_marisa
I want to get sponsored, you know? I want to continue making connections as I strive to get genuinely good at this game. But not by staying silent here.
I’ve left churches because of their policies about abusers; it’s the first question I ask when I visit one.
I could fill this thread with Bible verses about what repentance actually is, but I will refrain, because this thread is not actually about church. It’s about the FGC.
So, about that Secret Project™️ I’ve been waiting to reveal… 👀 Catch me in Justin Wong’s NXT Up Street Fighter reality show, every other Friday on YouTube
@jwonggg
! I’m honored to have been a part of this and beyond excited to finally be able to publicly happy scream.
The Brian_F discourse has now made its way to my Discords too so:
1. Skill gaps at the top are real and tilting
2. I will still always encourage people to be kind to themselves
3. Constantly hearing top players say how “ass” they are makes everyone below them feel super mega ass
Those friends include Ashley Easter (cult survivor/activist) and Boz Tchvidjian (founder of GRACE, .) I started a petition to bring Rachael Denhollander to my college campus as a speaker (it worked.)
I'll give Sonic the benefit of the doubt, they seem to want to encourage more women to go to tournaments.
With that being said, I'm asking the FGC (ESPECIALLY the women), what can be done to make this scene more inclusive and safer for women (or anyone)?
All right, before I fall asleep again, this is the thread I’ve been meaning to write for a while about Street Fighter 6, disability, why everyone should still try fighting games, and being considerate of others. Buckle up.
🦧📢You've seen her on the big screen in NYC, you've seen her on
#NXTup
with
@JWonggg
, and now you'll see her teaching Modern Marisa Mastery at
@Evo
! The SGF monkes are proud to be sending
@FemShepFGC
to Las Vegas as our first individual sponsorship! 🎉
Onboarding for new players, straight-up. Explain the foundational FGC stuff. Do y’all know how long it took me to understand that 2MK, low forward, and crouching medium kick are all the same thing? To learn number notation for directions? All of that. Onboard people.
Entered Can Opener again, went 0-2 again, but realized I felt more present and less like a sandbag. Hopped on ranked and…
Now I’m crying on my couch. Starting today at 1416, I’m back above 1500 MR for the first time since I hit Master last fall. I really am getting better. I am.
Shout-out to
@ElChakotay
, who was on stream today when I asked for sets—and still said, “Sure,” ran the sets, taught me anti-Lily tech in training, hung out with me on stream, and then said I’m welcome to clip it for my YouTube. Such a cool dude.
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT coming Thursday. Made-a-video-for-it big. Here’s a little preview of that because I can. 👀
Shout-out to all the friends who have gassed me up on commentary at locals. It was wild going through stream footage & realizing just how supportive everyone has been. ❤️
@Toxic_Jolene
That would require MASSIVE demonstrated change. And in all likelihood, I think if he were actually sorry, he would understand why people don’t feel safe having him at events, so it wouldn’t even be a question.
Another unintended effect IMO of “the games are easy now” or “[insert rank] is easy now” discourse is:
1. People who had to work to achieve their skill level feel like the accomplishment is meaningless
2. People who are still struggling feel PROFOUNDLY exceptionally unintelligent
Yk what, fuck it
Ik yall are there. What is YOUR clip? The one that, if it exists, people remember you for?
Mines probably still this, ignoring wooper stuff
Listen to women in the FGC. I’m grateful to have had positive experiences offline thus far, but I will not be pointed to as proof that, “See? The FGC is totally inclusive. That woman is having a great time.” Call out predators. Do everything you can to prevent this in your scene.
I hate to bring this to social media, especially since I’m a very private person. I recently did a work shop for young girls & women and I feel the need to share my experience in hope that this doesn’t happen to anymore women on our community.
My audition for NXT UP is live on YouTube and has been submitted through the Google form! 😳
If you think I’d make a good addition to
@JWonggg
’s online FGC reality show competition, do me a favor and blow this up to let him know. 🤯
When women show up to the local, do not assume they’re someone’s girlfriend or they’re only there to spectate. Basically always better to assume they’ve come to play, and if they really are just there to watch, fine, they’ll tell you.
Don’t hit on women at the local. Seriously, just don’t. If you think she’s cute, then get to know her as a person first and develop an actual rapport before you try that. Then if she says no, don’t be an asshole when you’ve still made a friend.
Assume the same competitive drive and mechanical capability from women at your local that you do from the men. Take them seriously. Offer the same constructive advice (if wanted) that you would offer a man. Don’t somehow take it more personally if you lose to a woman.
One of these days
@jhaletweets
will notice there’s a gamer out there who named herself after her inimitable Commander Shepard and I’ll be able to retire and move to the woods happy.
Do not tolerate fucking weirdos in your scene. If you see someone making a woman uncomfortable or being an asshole, enter the conversation so she can exit it. Call that shit out. Would he have said it if there was a woman present? No? Then call it out even when women are absent.
@Toxic_Jolene
That would require MASSIVE demonstrated change. And in all likelihood, I think if he were actually sorry, he would understand why people don’t feel safe having him at events, so it wouldn’t even be a question.
This is really not how I wanted to go viral or gain a bunch of followers but hi, I guess. I’m not always going off about inclusion and safety in the FGC. Sometimes I just want to argue about drive rush like everybody else. Also watch the next episode of
#NXTUp
on Friday please?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the ethos of “Everyone is welcome in the FGC” is WHY we need to listen to the kinds of negative experiences shared with Ryan. Our community gets better every time we stand up against the damaging elements, and it’s worth fighting for.
After a nightmare breakup, I was finally moving out on my own, had a job, and was out of the closet, so downloaded every dating app set to match with any gender to try casually dating lots of people for the first time. Went on one date… just knew. Coming up on 3 years with her.
Don’t hide behind discourse about something like control schemes to gatekeep the scene. I don’t care how much you hate modern—if a woman comes to your local for the first time and gets relentlessly shit on for playing modern, she’s not gonna come back.
@Toxic_Jolene
Completely fair. I’m big on restorative justice whenever possible, but “you can’t play video games with us” is a completely reasonable permanent consequence.
That’s me in second place!! ❤️🎉 I’ll win Grands one of these days. Gotta keep working. Even if it was a small bracket this week, still went 4-2 and made myself proud.
I can’t believe I have to say this, but please do not unsolicited DM me your sexual fantasies about Marisa and Manon and how it makes you nut everywhere.
Just because I also like women doesn’t mean I want to hear about how sapphic relationships harden your schlong.
TL;DR
1. Don’t be creepy or condescending
2. Call out anyone who is
3. Intentionally invite & include women in your scene
4. Be aware of intersecting demographics and be similarly inclusive of trans people, people of color, disabled/neurodivergent people, etc.
5. Run the set!
Video coming later!! Got a guy who unfortunately hadn’t played SF6 before, but still, we take those. 💪🏻
@MarciMania
@Fallen_Frag
@itssnick
And Pilch won a clean set with Ed!
And finally—all forms of discrimination are ultimately intersectional. As “just a joke” or otherwise: Don’t tolerate transphobia at your events. Don’t tolerate racism. Don’t condescend about disability/neurodivergence. There are women in ALL of those categories.
From New Jersey comes
@FemShepFGC
, a Marisa player that started playing
#SF6
as a rookie and made it into masters through hard work and determination!
She joins
#NXTUp
to fight for the grand prize of $10k and three fully-funded events. Next episode airs on April 26th!

In FGC Twitter just today,
someone customized their Tekken character to look like H*tler, a sponsored player got dropped for plugging and then talking mad shit, and someone made an NRS women tier list. At least Justin Wong is starting a reality show? The FGC is not okay LMFAO
My favorite thing about this episode is that production asked me for one (1) semi-serious photo where I wasn’t smiling and I couldn’t find any. They just had to go with that. 😂😂😂
Would ya look at that, got a box in the mail and now I’m decked out with
#NXTUp
swag (hat, crewneck, and t-shirt) so had to cheese a bit—thank you,
@JWonggg
and crew!!!
All the NXT Up swag is also for sale online if you want to match ha ha.
It’s exhausting in gaming spaces to constantly wonder if the people you want to view you as competition only see you as a date. That was my experience with gaming when I was in college and it made me very nervous entering the FGC, though thankfully I’ve had a good experience.
Uplift women in your scene; celebrate their improvements & successes just like you do for the men. My scene has been AMAZING at this. I never get introduced as “the girl.” I’m treated like a real competitor steadily improving and very much part of the community. That means a ton.
@Le_Brutus
Never ceases to give me straight-up chills seeing grown men act like quirky awkward teenagers to groom actual kids. The emojis, the “oh ha ha do you like me?” approach, all so gross oh my GOD. Fuck this guy.
Put women on stream. Talk about their gameplay, their improvement, their main, their sense of humor, whatever—DO NOT make it about their gender or appearance. Would’ve devastated me if my first time on stream, commentary had only talked about my tits, and I know that happens.
In particular, I’ve met more trans women and non-binary femmes at locals than I have cis women. If you want more women/femmes at your events sincerely, that has to include trans people or you’re sabotaging yourself and missing out on vibrant parts of the FGC.
OH and not sure how my ragingly bisexual ass neglected to mention queerness, but not all women in your scene even like men so hold that and respect that, k? I have yet to meet a single straight woman in my local FGC, even among those who do date men. 🌈 BE RESPECTFUL.
My girlfriend has started tagging in Instagram reels with captions like “me totally enjoying the video game and refusing to turn it off” and it’s just things like, a horse screaming incessantly. The worst part is they’re all super accurate. 😭 Don’t tilt and ranked, kids.
Gonna add a shout-out to Justin Wong and the cast/crew of NXT Up. I never once felt like The Token Girl during production, friendly trash talk was never about my gender, and I felt as seriously considered as a competitor as anyone else. Justin’s platform is HUGE. That matters!
Home now. This was an almost-cried, out-of-my-chair-screaming, buy-victory-dinner-after, text-my-mom milestone. If I’ve done it once, even at the small local, I can convince myself it’s possible again. Next up, bigger local. I’ve wanted this since August. So damn happy.
I've been slowly getting into SF6, played every morning this week for about 3hrs a day. Ended today's stream at 1800MR with a 17 winstreak on ranked ❣️
The group is going out somewhere else after the local? Invite the women. Don’t let it be an after-dark boys club. The boys invited me to the diner after Powersurge my first month at locals, despite my being the only girl, and being immediately included meant the world to me.
INVITE THE WOMEN YOU KNOW TO THE LOCAL. Being new at the local is intimidating af, more so if you’re worried about sexism. Knowing one person makes a world of difference. If you can be that person, do it.
OH AND THIS ALL GOES DOUBLE for women who commentate, TO, create content online, or even just run the venue you’re using for your events. It’s not just players. Respect, include, and uplift women at ALL levels of the FGC if you want to see more of us!
