This work can also help to understand and challenge the ways in which the White-supremacist features of the Mestizaje ideology may be present in the 🇺🇸, in settings where Latinx communities are relatively large and Latinx people are reaching salient public positions.

Since color-evasive ideologies exist in other settings, the reflections of this paper may be of interest for public administration and public policy scholars in nations where Mestizaje and/or racial democracy narratives are well alive, and ethnoracial inequalities prevail.

So, in this piece I explore the relationship between Whiteness and Mestizaje, a complex ideology of a ‘new race’ made from the ‘biological’ and/or cultural mixture of ‘other races’ that has been prevalent in Latin American countries like 🇵🇪🇨🇴🇪🇨🇧🇴 🇧🇷🇻🇪 and most notably 🇲🇽

Public administration scholars in the 🇬🇧 & 🇺🇸 have argued that Whiteness and its inclusion/exclusion dynamics that distribute privilege and marginalization benefitting White people (White supremacy), can be created and reinforced in public organizations and nonprofits.

Whiteness can be broadly understood as a system of domination based upon the normalization of a White identity as the standard against which otherness is constructed, understood, and evaluated.
