This breaks my heart. @sonnyperdue Can you help us out and make the rural feeding program happen here?

We need to do better than this
The data speak a loud and clear truth: “Of the 9139 NIH grants awarded to academic surgeons from 1998 and 2017, 31 (0.34%) grants were awarded to fewer than 12 Black/AA women surgeons.” #BlackWomenInMedicine

I honor one of my inspirations, Fannie Lou Hamer. I had the chance to work with her on voting drives and her campaign for Congress. She ran for the congressional district I am privileged to represent. Undoubtedly, there can be no celebration of WHM without including her. #WHM

Maybe as a regrettable tattoo? "This history reminds us that quarantines may be tools of medical authority, but their success and failure depends on human psychology informed by material needs." https://t.co/SzgDccxOir

A major reason for the racial maternal mortality gap is that Black patients are less likely to be believed. It will be another stain on our country if the same patterns of bias create a COVID-19 treatment gap.

Medical professionals across the country are asking for donations of PPE (or Personal Protective Equipment), but many people had never heard the phrase until the past few weeks. We’ve answered your questions about what is PPE and why it’s important for our health care workers.

Thanks for sharing this important information! Please also consider what we can do to help people #StayHome. Food and supplies are imperative!
As of 9 am, UAB has at least 60 confirmed inpatient #COVID19 cases, w/ growing # of patients under investigation. More than half of those patients are on ventilators. This is further proof that community action is still needed to stop the spread. Let’s all do our part. #StayHome

A huge thank you to Lauren Hailey & friends who provided snacks for our employees, volunteers, patients and their families. (And thanks to my daughter Olivia for the delivery!) We are so grateful to all those who have stepped up in many ways to support @UMMCnews during this time.

Absolutely! Farmers are great and will save this country. Would you consider @SecretarySonny plan? Resource the poor and vulnerable elderly to be able to #stayhome. https://t.co/FRC149DCOg
It’s #NationalAgDay! To those who wake up before the sun rises, and go to sleep long after it sets, we appreciate you. Today and every day, we celebrate our Mississippi farmers who work so hard to provide for all of us!

Absolutely!! Would you consider this program in Mississippi that has been piloted by @SecretarySonny ? It will be very hard for people to #stayhome without adequate resources. Could be good for both urban and rural. https://t.co/FRC149DCOg
Our nation & political leaders need to come together and do what’s right. Democrats are choosing to exploit this crisis & snub the needs of our citizens by littering their coronavirus stimulus package with liberal policies that do nothing to address the real issues at hand.
