Thank you @FrankeBenedikt @MSCheusgen & the @MunSecConf team for having me back! A remarkable conference filled with great substance, spotlighting the right issues. Pleased to see many international law issues raised at #MSC2025. Looking forward to hopefully returning next year!
Another momentous @MunSecConf, perhaps the most consequential in recent times. It really feels like something changed here this year. Are we about to finally witness a shift in European defense? What’s next for US-European relations? NATO? Ukraine? #MSC2025

Privileged to have contributed early thinking to @GSPJournal on how great power politics affect atrocity prevention & response, and why the conduct of certain powers, such as Russia, today poses a system-level challenge to int’l peace and security coop. More soon on the topic.

Intentional killing of innocents is NOT morally permissible armed resistance. War crimes are NOT legally permissible armed resistance. Calling Oct. 7th "armed resistance" without making that clear implies prima facie justification, even if you "did not like it".
Sorry Judith, the attacks on 10/7 was not part of an armed resistance or uprising. They were acts of terror.

As the sister of a political prisoner and a lawyer from a community whose 10% of the population is in prison, I can not imagine what Yulia & Dasha are going through with the loss of him. While Yulia appeared tough in Munich today, their pain is immeasurable and unimaginable.

We all play a part in the #internationaljustice #ecosystem. Working together, we can rise to the moment & provide more systematically for @UNHumanRights & #accountability. I look forward to continuing to work w/t brilliant colleagues & soon exchanging ideas with @volker_turk.
Appropriately supporting @UN #accountability mandates requires thinking about methodologies / tools (such as the brilliant #BerkeleyProtocol), but also resources, people (skills), cutting-edge #tech, infrastructure & vision/ strategy:

Abstract. This article discusses an important international justice development, and specifically the rise of a new generation of ‘accountability mandates’
There can be no doubt that @UNHumanRights investigations are absolutely crucial to support #accountability for the greatest #humanrights abuses. The challenges are many but so are the opportunities. We need to think big and work more systematically to support them …
