Penn State will pay James Franklin a buyout approximately equal to the ENTIRE Division III budget for this year. Think about that. EVERYTHING @NCAADIII will do this year across all sports is equivalent to what ONE power conference football school will pay a man NOT to coach.
The more than $49 million set to be owed by Penn State to James Franklin is the second-biggest buyout in the history of college football. Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher buyout remains the most at more than $76 million.

Honest question What happens if they go over the $20.5? Do they lose scholarships? Lose possession eligibility? Lose funding of some sort? Who enforces any punishment? Also: Schools and Agents/Lawyers “for” the athletes: ‘We agree this is fair’ Once the ink dries: “UNFAIR!”
Interesting take. Working on some NIL/rev share reporting and talked to a person who follows this stuff closely: “AD's who think $20.5m will do the job will be out of a job within 24 months. If you aren't figuring out a way to go $10-15m above the cap, it's probably a good time
