When @fancymancer reached out to us about his fantasy shopkeeping game, it felt a bit like looking in a mirror seeing the things the games had in common.😆 It seemed natural fit and seeing our characters in a real, physical board game has been really cool!

Phrenology was one particularly dumb kind of physiognomy, but physiognomy is still used commonly every day. Whenever an animator gives a hero a square jaw, or an empathetic character big eyes, they're engaging in it. "Punchable" faces, and so on.

Slop is a big part of getting your reps in. In art, in school essays, in voiceover acting. There has always been quantity-driven art and space where the cheapest option will do. The undermining of those spaces is unsettling for successful artists who mind the path behind them.

Not to Activate a Discourse but The ableism argument here doesn’t hold water to me. AI doesn’t provide authentic feedback and it doesn’t “help” with writing anymore than a Car helps with running. This feels saying you should be allowed to ride a Segway in a Marathon.

There's something else I miss about 2010's fandoms is when artists would pick three characters that are slightly similar between each other and they would design fusions between them, none has done it in a while. Credit to sirartwork and and fancymancer.
