Player-centric solutions above all. Below it includes technical versatility, dynamic positioning and quick player combinations to unlock defenses. I do like a bit of adaptability in player choices depending on opponents and competitions. Below are a thread of my threads

Now that we have a full season to get familiarized with Flick's football, I'm really looking forward to seeing how we'll fine tune our methods that find the happy medium between Barcelona's and Flick's philosophy, as well as offensive devastation and physical sustainability.

I hope to see the team be able to surround our players, particularly Yamal with more options to create. This is how you optimize plays around a player by teaching everyone to give each other varied options, whether they're automated or improvised.

There seems to be an error with X. Beyond personnel (Width-holding LW/dynamic ST, more powerful LCB, LB depth),. My one tactical solution would be to tweak the RHS dynamic further, particularly with the usage of our CAM by encouraging further dynamism with over/underlaps

Big shout-out to @wisewanderer2 for his insights on PSG's methods of success. Couldn't have done this thread without his input.

We're far from a perfect team especially against sides with more organizational and physical power ala Inter and Arsenal. Despite that, our talent mixed with Flick's formula is a working method that requires further reinforcements and a few tweaks to make it sustainable.

While there's common discussion at the LHS, I reckon another big issue is at the RHS and our overreliance on Yamal. It's one thing to maximize his, it's another to expect him to constantly bail us out of lowblocks with a passive RB and a CAM that hangs around the box.

Additionally, our highly vertical football requires the aforementioned spine of Pedri, FDJ, Cubarsi and Martinez due to their exceptional ball-playing ability and tempo-setting. But clearly, the lack of defensive and physical power leads to our systemic weakness OOP.

It doesn't help having a 37 y/o Lewa be part of the frontline even as part of the passive 2nd wave of press. Furthermore, we don't have much PnP in our CB pairing despite their upside values IP, necessitating Kounde at RB and Balde to cover the Red Sea.

1. The 1st wave of press:. The key roles here are being played by the wingers. As when the opp GK has the ball,.—Lamine and Raphinha block the passing lanes to their CBs.—Lewa and the Adv. Midfielder(Olmo)blocks the DMs. Thus forcing the keeper to go long to his Fullbacks or CF.

What we're still lacking for now is personnel and a little more *planned* flexibility to minimize our weaknesses. That includes our lack of contingencies when our press falters, low physical levels and systemic success without Yamal and Pedri.

His high-line and central overload principles achieves that and simultaneously masks our defensive weakness by maximizing possession and counter-pressing in the final 3rd. This is best reflected through the deployment of the Pedri-FDJ and Inigo-Cubarsi pairings.

Though this does not mean I want us to be like PSG, and I doubt that would be the direction we go either. What made this season with Hansi Flick succeed in the first place relative to the previous was his maximization of our plethora of central attacking talents.

I use PSG as a reference point due to their methodical planning and complete personnel. Planned rotations and automatisms to relieve space for their creative talents and counter-pressing. Generalist FWs, MFs and FBs who can do different roles both OOP and IP.

The addition of talent comes from adding individual quality over each other, mixing their strengths and adding potency. Multiplying talent takes it to the next level through creating more specific conditions for each combination to synergize.

With that being said, we've evidently fallen short in the UCL and it isn't only down to bad luck, as a large part of it is due to our overreliance on individual quality and the weakness of our Spine. As such, PSG's success is no coincidence for me, deserving their first treble.
