Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Ensure justice for those who are crushed. (Proverbs 31 v8) #ToPonder Who will you speak up for this week? If you can’t think of anyone or any group of people, then why not spend this week looking & reflecting… #MondayMotivation

I’ve been reminded that it’s #MyXAnniversary That means that it’s 12years since I wrote a diocesan Lent Course for the @CofELincoln & set up this account to support it. Made redundant a year later, this account hasn’t been well used, but hopefully it will soon rise from the ashes

2/2 …and so to the wider world as its saviour. As you’ve probably taken down your Christmas lights, why not light candles around your house to celebrate Jesus as Light of, and for, the world. And if you haven’t done so already, you should bring the wise men into your crib scene

After the #TwelveDaysOfChristmas comes the feast of the #Epiphany. It celebrates the visit of the Magi (the wise men) to the newborn Jesus. The name comes from the Greek ‘epiphaneia’. It means “appearance” or “manifestation” & is about the revealing of Jesus to the Gentiles 1/2

The #TwelfthDayOfChristmas is when we take down our Christmas decorations. But until the late 19th century, it was a time of feasting & merriment. As partying & gift-giving need preparation, it’s too late for today, but why not plan something special for someone for next weekend?

The #EleventhDayOfChristmas is one of the 12 days associated with music. Pipers piping aren’t everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ tho. Spend part of this evening listening to some favourite music. Maybe also make a playlist of your favourite music that you can relax with it in days to come…

The #TenthDayOfChristmas is also the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. Choosing a person’s name is significant. Some cultures set aside an annual day that celebrates each name. Why not research what your name means? Check if you’ve a Name Day - if so, note it & plan to mark it.

The #NinthDayOfChristmas is a day when many put dates into new diaries. Instead of all work-type things, why not add reminders of blessings you’ve been given. Think of 2025, write yourself ‘thank you notes’ for 2026 dates to remind you of something that made you glad you did it.

Today, New Year's Day, is the #EighthDayOfChristmas. Yesterday you wrote good wishes or blessings for family & friends. Today write something similar for yourself - not a resolution to improve, but positives you bring into the New Year and how they might be used for good in 2026.

At Evensong on this New Year's Eve, in the last hours of 2025 and with 2026 before us, the Second Collect at Evening Prayer says all that needs to be said.

Today, the #SeventhDayOfChristmas, is also New Year’s Eve. Instead of making New Year's resolutions for yourself, write a card (or send a text or email) to family members or friends, telling them what your good wishes or blessings are for them in the coming year.

Today is the #SixthDayOfChristmas, a day when people often think of the Holy Family. Why not call up someone, family or friend, that you haven't talked to ‘in forever’... Or perhaps declare it a quiet evening and spend time reading a good book.

Today is the #FifthDayOfChristmas As it’s 29th December, it’s also Thomas Beckett Day. He was an Archbishop of Canterbury who was martyred in 1170. Why not send an email, text, or other note of thanks to someone who has been a spiritual or other kind of inspiration to you…

Today is the #FourthDayOfChristmas As it’s 28th Dec, it’s also Holy Innocents Day. Globally, pray specifically for world leaders... In your own community, unobtrusively make a gesture of peace toward someone you know, in the spirit of loving those you don't find easy to love…

…2/2… On the #ThirdDayOfChristmas, we’re encouraged to be the "good news" for someone else in a small way. And for ourselves, as the “good news” brings light, why not light a candle and relax in the glow.

Not everyone realises that ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ start on Christmas Day rather than leading up to it. Day 1 was Christmas Day. Day 2 was yesterday, Boxing Day or St Stephen’s Day. This is a day when we remember that the heart of love is in the small things …1/2…

Christmas is a good time to begin standing with the shepherds, to open ourselves to that angelic invitation, and to be disarmed of our fears and the swords we carry. (Jim Forest) #ToPonder

If our greatest need was education, God would’ve sent a teacher. If it was money, God would’ve sent a banker. If it was advice, God would’ve sent a counsellor. But since our greatest need was forgiveness, God sent a Saviour. Christmas isn’t just for #Christmas!

Our #Advent journey is over. We celebrate Christ’s birth: “Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning, Jesu, to Thee be glory given; Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing: O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!” Christmas is not just for #Christmas! #AdventAlphabet
