Today, the Fair Share Amendment is making it easier to go to college. If you’re eligible for a Pell Grant, you now also qualify for tuition- and fee-free education at a MA community college, public university, or UMass. One third of all UMass students qualify for free tuition.

Exactly one year ago, MA passed the Fair Share Amendment. The ultra-rich pay 4% more on income over $1 million. We put billions of dollars directly into education and transportation. In 2023, the Fair Share Amendment raised over $1 BILLION. We believe that’s called a “win-win.”

Unions, teachers, health care workers, and people across Massachusetts came together to take on a tough fight. And now millionaires will pay a fair share to fund roads, bridges, transit, and public education. Woo-hoo, @FairShareMA! https://t.co/yIHSNqc6m7

At the @FairShareMA victory press conference, and it is impressive to think that this victory was 100-years in the making. We have had a constitutional flat tax for > 100 years. There have been five past times to change that, and each failed. But we finally won. #mapoli
