what i intended to do w this thread was point out that, like the rest of the beasts, salt has faults and they shouldnt be ignored. he is capable of redemption, but hes gotta acknowledge and own up to the harm he did to the other beasts by ignoring/sealing them. THAT was my point.

lilys freedom allows for mistakes and encourages striving to do/be better, but salt condemned the beasts and lily for making mistakes without giving them a chance to improve. THATS what silence is. and until salt recognizes what he did was WRONG, he wont be the good guy. (8)

i love the idea that, despite your past mistakes, if you embrace your wrongdoing and take steps to make it right, if you try and keep trying, that's freedom. that's exactly what white lily's character needed - she /finally/ has autonomy in her own story. (4

he /only/ accepted white lily when she awakened to /his/ idea of freedom. when she fit the mold and followed in her friends footsteps. it even feels a bit antithetical to the concept of freedom, but maybe i just havent thought about it deeper yet. (3
