This goal should never have stood. This goal effectively kept Villa in the league. Villa were going to sell Grealish for cheap to United if they had gotten relegated.
Villa stayed up and Grealish went for 100m later. That money was spent on the Villa rebuild and the team is

Odegaard isn’t a better midfielder than Bruno Fernandes.
At the age of 32, KDB can’t stay fit to play 90mins every 3/4 days.
The only midfielder at the level of Bruno in the PL is Rodri.
I have no idea how people still underestimate Bruno!

For vibes, it was definitely Ole. For big game performances, it was Ole. For getting the best out of the squad, it was Ole. For the style of football we played, it was Ole. For tactical variety, it was Ole. For connecting the fans with the club again, it was Ole. For recruitment,

Antonio - West Ham desperately trying to find a striker so that they don’t have to play Antonio
I don’t get this arrogance from these two. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional toward a colleague.
I see this clip being shared by rival fans many times. One of these days people would understand that Bruno did nothing wrong here. In fact, your team should do this.
Liverpool scored and wanted to start the game straightaway. Bruno wanted to stop that momentum a little bit. I
I am not Ten Hag’s biggest fan right now. But, he handled the Sancho situation right.

Don’t forget that we sold Mengi for 1m. He was one of our stars in the academy. Sure his evolution in the last few years hadn’t gone as planned. But, 1m for a PL starting CB is laughable.
Look at how much City and Liverpool get for their academy players.

🟠 Understand Fulham and Crystal Palace are now following Luton Town’s CB Teden Mengi for the future.
He has become one of PL promising youngsters by leading U-21 players with the highest percentage of defensive duels won in Europe’s top 5 leagues this campaign.

I've had to compare Bruno’s position in his first 18 months at United under Ole when he was playing like a second striker and now, the difference is so BIG. The stats are so clear. How did Ole manage him so well? Why are we not getting the best out of him anymore, Frasier?

How is Ole still disrespected on this app?
Did a very good job. Finished 2nd and 3rd with one of the youngest teams in the PL history. Multiple cup semis. Europa league final.
And now everyone agrees that he did all that without a decent midfield.
Doku v McAllister incident was discussed for a whole week. Whether that should have been a red card or if McAllister could have been severely hurt.
For the McAllister v Maguire incident, Liverpool got a free kick 🤷🤷
Have to give it to the Liverpool fans, their manager, and
I love destroying bad narratives.
Pep Guardiola inherited a team that had Kompany, Sterling, Aguero, KDB, Silva, Fernandinho, Otamendi and a few other good players.
Then, he went on to spend 530m in the next 2 seasons. That included spending 50m on a couple of fullbacks. Back
The premier league table the season before Pep took over.
But remember, Pep Guardiola inherited a ‘super team’ that consisted of the second oldest squad in the league and only 2 defenders in the whole of defence (!) under the age of 30.
Some inherited super team that was!
If this was the PL they would have given the pen. Reason PL needs to get better refs.
Saka initiated the contact. He knew what he was doing. Not a pen. Great decision from the ref.
Jack Grealish used to be a sensational footballer. His game has become so boring now.
1. Receive the ball in wide areas
2. Try to win a foul
3. If you don’t win a foul then recirculate the ball
This is what I see now in most games. What happened to him?
Bradley - Academy
Elliott - Academy
Endo - Liverpool got him after their failed attempt to sign Amrabat
Mac Allister - 40m signing. Ten Hag made Mount his first choice target even when Mac Allister was available
Gomez - CB playing LB
Quansah - Academy player
Kelleher - Backup
After the Onana discussion, I was thinking of this incident from the weekend
Do you give a foul for GK action after the ball is played? Here, the attacker has already played the ball and then the GK clashed with the attacker. Same happened with Onana.
Let’s look a bit deeper into stats.
Martial played 19,742 mins (~219 90s) for Manchester United. He scored 83 non-pen goals and got 43 assists.
126 non-pen goals + assists in 219 90s at a rate of 0.57 per 90. That’s a great record.
Show me how many attackers get these

Someone wrote a thread recently. Bruno Fernandes is an enigma. A chance creation machine without being elite in dribbling. That doesn’t happen that often.
100 - Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has created 100 chances in open play in the Premier League in 2023, only the second player Opta has on record (2004 onwards) to create 100+ chances in open play in a calendar year, along with Mesut Özil in 2015 (104). Centurions.

You are being naive if you think the public discourse (media, managers, fans) does not affect referee decisions in this league.

People don’t appreciate the difficulty in shifting play style for a player. Rashford/Hojlund conversation reminded me of Foden and a few other City players when Haaland joined City.
