We were also able to take part in a Stop the Bleeding training sessions delivered by Major Gen (Rtd) Tim Hodgetts on behalf of CitizenAid which was a great experience for us all.

There was also session about the regional work ongoing across the country that explored how we can increase exposure to PHEM for students and trainees.

Last week some of our Regional Representatives from across the UK attended the 2025 FPHC Conference. Over the two days we were able to hear from experts across a range of fields including pre-hospital maternity care, event medicine and pre-hospital care in austere environments.

The penultimate session this afternoon is covering the Faculty’s work on the Clinical Response to Major Incidents (CRMI). Talks include the new Diploma in Major Incident Management, updates on the CRMI, and the fantastic FPHC Wellbeing Charter, soon to be published. #FPHC2025

Prof. Stuart Maitland-Knibb shares his personal experience of a manslaughter charge after handling a case during the unprecedented COVID-19 Pandemic. His learning from this experience allows for valuable reflection. “Recorded information is irrefutable” #FPHC2025

Mr Zane Perkins discusses AI in Pre-Hospital Care, noting trust, bias and transparency as barriers. Research builds AI tools but rarely tackles integration into daily use. “The maths works but it’s only as good as the data it’s given.” #FPHC2025

Major Gen (Rtd)Tim Hodgetts talks on building public resilience. The General Public are inevitably first on scene after disasters or attacks. CitizenAid uses lessons from WWII and the military to educate and empower the public to act in the event of disaster.#FPHC2025

Dr Rob Russell delivers his talk on the creation and delivery of the Pre-Hospital Trauma Care Course in India and Nepal. He shares the intricacies of identifying and training potential instructors, to cascade training further afield. #FPHC2025

Dr Peter Patel is next up: He shares his journey in creating Saving Lives International (SLI). SLI delivers humanitarian aid, preparedness training and infrastructure to developing countries undergoing natural disasters. #FPHC2025
