FIU Wind Engineer Dr. Amal Elawady uses the NSF-NHERI Wall of Wind to study downbursts with the goal of designing buildings and infrastructure to be more resilient to downburst winds.

FIU Extreme Events Institute and FIU Emergency Management recently hosted Martin County EM and Miami-Dade EM at the FIU Emergency Operations Center and then toured the NSF-NHERI Wall of Wind.
Today, we had the privilege of visiting our partners at the @NHC_Atlantic and then head over to the @FIU Wall of Wind. We learned a lot about hurricane research today. What a great Friday!
