Hilariously, turns out this was very slightly cut by the BBFC to secure a U rating. At the end, the James Corden Smurf proposes his name is the "Kick Your [bleep] Smurf", which the Sound Effect Smurf censors. The UK version slightly lengthens the bleep to obscure the word totally.

There was several families in that screening, and it says something that I did the most laughing. The kids were stone silent. Well behaved, though. There's a mid credits scene. Invariably they have extra scenes even when families clear out the second a credit appears.

Smurfs (2025): When John Goodman's Papa is snatched, Rhianna's Smurfette leads the Smurfs on a dimension-hopping adventure to save him in this live-action/animation hybrid. Animation is fantastic and playful, the story is a whisp and wastes a starry voice cast on mild chuckles.

I feel already late to the party, but I filmed my Superman review now that the temps dropped slightly. Didn't stop me from being a flustered, sweaty mess. I also frighteningly realised this shirt is probably 20 years old.

Superman (2025): David Corenswet is the Man of Steel, whose reputation is attacked by Nicholas Hoult's Luthor, in James Gunn's reworking, owing a big debt to the Richard Donner film while being current. A little rocky start, but builds up steam, and very entertaining and fun.
