Following the news the government is set to make #mediation sessions mandatory & offer funding support in an effort to divert cases away from under-pressure family courts, the @TheLawSociety's president chats to @SolicitorsJrnl about the potential risks involved. #familylaw

It takes on average 49 weeks for a divorce case to get to court.    But that’s not the only option for separating couples. Claire Darley explains👇 https://t.co/l7VtqpfKhc #FamilyMediationWeek #Divorce #FBCMB #LegalAdvice

We have been told @CEOofHMCTS cannot deal with our complaints or resolve the issue, but as Head of HMCTS Mr Goodwin is responsible for the service & should be able to improve the service for Court users. It cannot be right or fair that it takes over a year to list an application.

After persistently chasing we were told in May that the Court is dealing with a backlog & applications from Dec were being considered. How is this an acceptable delay? We raised complaints with the Court again in June, July & August, but our application has still not been issued

.@CEOofHMCTS we are extremely concerned that the Court has taken over 12 months so far to deal with an application we made in October 2021. The application has not yet been issued and we do not yet have a hearing date.

The Divorce, Dissolution & Separation Act 2022, comes into force from 6 April. It's the biggest reform of #divorcelaw in 50 years & will help couples split with less conflict thanks to the inclusion of the ‘no fault’ option. Our team fully support the changes #nofaultdivorce
