What Japan does in terms of sushi and anime will always be relevant, but it's absurd that excellent sushi can spread around the world but anime stops being anime when it does the same. You can't expect to be exactly the same but it doesn't lose artistic merit when it's good.

This is my favorite definition of anime I've ever come across, I know it's pretty biased given the nature of my business but I wish people were to think about the issue of authenticity in anime with more plasticity than what Anilist, MAL and AniDB do.
