Please be aware that a new 21-day temporary closure has been put in place on Public Bridleways WL31/35 and WL14/8 due to unsafe trees following the woodland fire on North Hill. This replaces the previous closure of bridleway WL31/29 which is now open @ExmoorNP @ExmoorRangers

News just in.. footpath to Watersmeet from Lynmouth is completely blocked by fallen trees and a landslip. Please avoid this route as you cannot get through. NT Rangers are investigating - update to follow. @ExmoorNP @ExmoorRangers @NorthDevonNT

Please note that Woodside Bridge, Lynmouth will be closed for 1 day on Monday 15th September 2025 for essential maintenance work. Middleham Gardens and Watersmeet open as usual but circular walk via Woodside not passable. @ExmoorNP @ExmoorRangers @NorthDevonNT

Please note parts of Bridleways WL31/29, WL 31/34 & WL 31/35 on North Hill, Minehead are closed due to unsafe trees and significant damage by a woodland fire. Closure until 18/09/25 for work to make the area safe. Temporary access to WL31/35 by kind permission of the landowner

ADVANCE NOTICE Restricted Byway DU3/33, part of School Lane, Dulverton, will be closed to all traffic for a period of time on Wednesday 30th July for engineering works to replace a telegraph pole. Please see alternative routes below for walkers, cyclists and riders.

The footbridge across the Danesbrook near Whiterocks Down was swept away by flood water on Friday 13th June 2025. Bridleway remains open - you can cross via the ford when conditions allow (but you will need to wade through water). Do not cross when river is high. @ExmoorNP

Please be aware that permitted bridleway pp32 is closed until further notice due to an unsafe bridge which is completely impassable. This is a popular path between West Ilkerton and Woolhanger Farm near Lynton and Lynmouth. Below are alternative routes for all users.

Please be aware that repairs are now complete on the footbridge on footpath DU1-42 shown below and it has now been reopened. This is situated near Hartford village below Wimbleball Dam on bridleway DU1-24.

Unfortunately, the bridge above Hinds Pitt Pool that forms part of the popular Tarr Steps circular walk has had to be closed due to structural failure and for public safety. The bridge has been there since the 1950’s and some key parts of the steel structure have deteriorated..

The Pickedstones bridge has now been replaced on Public bridleway DU5/3 East of Simonsbath. All works are completed and the closure notice has been lifted. Many thanks to the landowner and local contractor for working together to get this popular route open again.

Please be aware that Devon County Council are replacing the Hunters Inn road bridge, it will be closed to all traffic from 12th May, until 22nd December 2025. DCC have signed a road diversion and the diversion below is for walkers and riders, please follow signs on the ground.

Please be aware that a second temporary closure has been issued on DU1/42 near Hartford village, due to a broken bridge. The bridleway is still open to cyclist and horse riders using the FORD. A suggested diversion for walkers is below in blue.

Please be aware a section of Public Footpath DU1/24 (below the dam at Wimbleball Lake) is closed due to a damaged bridge. This is a 3 week closure which is likely to be extended. There is no alternative route for walkers.
