As children return home for the holidays, let’s be intentional about bonding. PLAY is often seen as a waste of time, but it’s a powerful tool for teaching communication, interaction, and building stronger connections. This holiday, let’s change things, take time to play.

Every new week brings a new challenge, a new “cave.”. But remember: when you choose to face it, you’re not just.surviving,you’re growing. This week, let’s embrace the stretch and be better than yesterday at everything we do.

The parents embraced this learning experience wholeheartedly and didn’t shy away from the challenge; instead, they appreciated the lesson and even requested additional sessions to continue learning.

Upon further inquiry, the facilitator discovered that they had never been to school and lacked basic writing skills. Seizing this moment, he took the opportunity to teach each of them how to write.

Recently, our facilitator had a one-on-one session with the parents of Alero during the Village Savings and Loans Association meeting (VSLA). It became clear that many of them had not signed their names.

The session strengthened their understanding of financial management, savings, and loan systems—empowering them to drive sustainable livelihoods and economic resilience in their community. Let's continue supporting local iniatives that create lasting impact.

Last week, the Gulu Livelihoods Project Officer led a transformative training for Lukali Home Learning Center (HLC) Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) Committee members.

Every day, I see the power of community in action at Home Learning Centres. Young facilitators, children, parents working together to build something filled with, learning, growth, & possibility. Let us hold the tourches tighter as we guide the young ones on the right path.

These interactions not only higlight achievements but also pave the way for continued growth and impact in the places we work in.

It's essential for leaders to engage directly with the people, as it fosters a strong bond & mutual understanding. I have always been honored to participate in these meetings with the men and women in the region, where they share progress made through our Home Learning Centres

Education is a powerful tool for transformation, & the GLISTERS Project has proven that! . Over 3 years, young girls have embraced their right to learn with courage & determination. Thanks to @EchidnaGiving & partners, lives have changed, futures reshaped & dreams revived.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Jassy B. Kwesiga, a mentor and guiding light to @LABEUganda for over 30 years. His dedication to girls’& Adult Basic Education was firm. I’ll always cherish his kindness and wisdom. Thank you, Professor. Rest in peace.

Mother tongue learning makes complex concepts easier to understand by explaining them in a familiar language. It taps into our natural way of processing information, making even difficult subjects feel less intimidating. Let us embrace mother tongue languages in our daily lives.

It is always a pleasure to see young facilitators actively engaging with their peers, helping them grasp the fundamentals of learning. Let us continue to champion and encourage the power of peer-to-peer learning, fostering an environment of mutual growth and support.

Mother-tongue education taps into a child’s natural cognitive abilities. It enables learners to make connections between what they already know & new ideas being introduced. This connection promotes a deeper understanding of subjects, encourages curiosity and critical thinking.

Throwing back to my incredible champions of change, who have consistently taken the lead in sharing their knowledge with fellow young people at the Home-Based Learning Centres. Your dedication and leadership over the years will always be remembered & appreciated.
