Given mounting geopolitical tensions, we need to be more concerned about our country's #supplychain for critical medicines. To echo @JohnFCrowley, “The consequences of having critical manufacturing offshore are clear… we have to be prepared.” #antibiotics #biotech.
A recently released Defense Department report “identified that 54% of the DoD pharmaceutical supply chain is considered either high or very high risk, with dependency on non-Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant suppliers, sourcing from China and India, or unknown.”.

More #AMR funding is always good news however it's not enough to fix the industry. Gov’t must support a marketplace that incentivizes innovation & requires new regulatory, policy & reimbursement pathways to create viable access models for new #antibiotics.

Check out @dmosbergen's @WSJ article on the business of #antibiotics. I'm proud of Paratek's success in a challenging marketplace. However, if we don't modernize today's reimbursement system, the innovation curve for antibiotics will continue to crater.

Outstanding article by @kweintraub and @AdriannaUSAT on the current state of #antibiotics and what can be done to solve #AMR. One more way to ensure antibiotics are available is modernizing reimbursement to recognize the value of life-saving antibiotics.

Growing the #antibiotics pipeline to address global need is essential yet requires new regulatory, policy & pricing pathways to create viable economic models for new #antibiotics, as @CidsIndia President Dr. Venkatasubramanian Ramasubramanian suggests.
