STOP what you're doing. Right now. You need to watch this.
Wow. I ... am speechless & ran out of tears.
Also retweet so Musa Motha becomes a household name in SA and not just a star on a UK show.
This is the inspiration you needed for this week:
"Get a protection order". She did. She was still murdered.
"Take boxing classes". She did. She was still murdered.
"Watch how you dress". She did. She was still raped.
"Don't walk far". She didn't. She still got murdered.
Maybe it's time to tell HIM to STOP ATTACKING HER.
I ❤ this photo. Look at the simple joy on the kids' faces next to Ntando Mahlangu.
Role models can transform your life if you belong to a marginalised or oppressed group. Meeting someone who KNOWS what you're going through but who can inspire you.
Visibility, not disability.
Congratulations to Ashwin Willemse on graduating from Wits University with a Master's degree in management specialising in entrepreneurship & new venture creation.... with DISTINCTION.

Say what you want about the content of his political thought but
@Julius_S_Malema
is an extraordinary political orator and strategist.
And he is but 37. Underestimate him at your peril.

I dig this photo - how it started for AKA. When they were school boys at St John's.
That's AKA, Nhlanhla Makenna & Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh, the members of Entity. They had one album, Royal School of Hip Hop (2005) [It was nominated for a Kora All Africa Music Award] 👊🏼 ❤️

The EFF is being childish.
The politics of spectacle have become yawn inducing, predictable and frankly both lazy and tiring.
Win arguments. Win battles of ideas. Sell voters an alternative vision, alternative plans for how to run government.
#SONA2020
Devastating news.
RIP Xolani Gwala.
You were a brilliant broadcaster, a kind human being with an affable smile, always.
Condolences to your family and friends.
Rest in peace, my colleague.
On 28 July 2014, Hastings Moeng proposed

to Somizi & Themba. The description of the show is materially similar to the one now flighted (to the shock of Mr Moeng). See the 2014 email below and decide for yourself. (1/2)
The ANC is beyond repair. 'Integrity', 'accountability' and 'ethics' are not what you associate 'ANC' with. The party's DNA is now 'theft', 'hubris', and 'viciousness'.
While the alternative parties aren't ideal, to still support *this* ANC is a form of political self-hatred.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present you Princess Doctor Yvonne Chaka Chaka!!
Thanks Rhodes University for honoring this African legend with an honorary doctorate.

When I vote this year I won't ask myself, "Which political party has the most exciting, inspirational and feasible vision, and policies that will likely help us achieve a just and inclusive South Africa?"
I'll ask myself, "Who's gonna do the least damage to our beloved country?"
President Thabo Mbeki, "There is no national plan to address the challenges of poverty, unemployment, inequality. It doesn't exist..."
He goes on to say that president
@CyrilRamaphosa
failed to make good on his SONA promise to have a "comprehensive social pact" within 100 days.
Well done to Cassper Nyovest for being innovative, entertaining, entrepreneurial and in the process giving a much loved South African sport a PR boost it needed.
The real winner is entertainment and BOXING.
#CassperVsNaakMusiq
Citizens cannot reasonably be asked to comply with extraordinary limitations on our freedoms, including telling us to not visit ill family members, when a minister decides to pop in for lunch at a friend's. If you cannot lead, do NOT take up leadership positions in society.
Thank you everyone for the outpour of love and support. It was immense and appreciated. It has helped us get through this very difficult period.
In keeping with Eusebius' spirit of giving and kindness, please continue to show the same levels of empathy and support to others.…
President
#cyrilramaphosa
is essentially saying, "Trust me, my government will root out covid-19 related corruption."
How many people to date have been successfully prosecuted for state capture, mr president?
Your government has a piss poor record on fighting corruption.

@Julius_S_Malema
thanks for showing leadership today and not being worried about homophobic backlash even among some of your supporters online.
Shame on the ANC government for SILENCE.
Doing right isn't about calculating how many 'likes' you'll get.
#GayRightsAreHumanRights
John Steenhuisen makes it extremely easy for the ANC to underperform massively without that underperformance costing them fatally. That's because Steenhuisen thinks the MEANING of opposition is to oppose everything for its own sake. He's addicted to whining, and being contrarian.
This is an absolute disgrace. The ANC-led government is itself a massive disappointment, BUT ... the EFF is quite literally subverting democratic processes themselves. How are voters supposed to regard them as a clear and credible alternative to the ANC?!
Pantomime.
#SONA2023
Bra Bob, you epitomised an elementary truth of radio that seems easy only because you were so GOOD you made it seem effortless: be someone your listeners want to hang out with. Your passion made us follow you to every platform. Thank you for 30 years of funk ❤ 🥺

BREAKING NEWS: Afriforum LOST the appeal to the SCA in the case of the Old South African flag. The court UNANIMOUSLY found that it is hate speech, unfair race discrimination & harassment, in terms of the Equality Act, to publicly display the Old South African flag gratuitously.
I'm ENORMOUSLY grateful for brilliant pulmonologist Dr

South Africans should NOT fall for the gimmicks of Mr Ramaphosa a) declaring a state of national disaster & b) appointing a minister of electricity.
We got here because of state capture- ANC predation on society; NOT because we lacked a minister of electricity. Focus.
#SONA2023
President Cyril Ramaphosa: "The electricity crisis is so urgent that I hereby create a minister of electricity in my office."
Ten days later, there is no sign of an urgent appointment.
Mr Ramaphosa only ever liked the IDEA of being president. He is now torturously indecisive.
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to fly home after the funeral, instead of to New York, is appropriate, given the blackouts. BUT don't be fooled: 1) Flying back isn't proof of leadership; 2) Flying back isn't a PLAN to fix Eskom.
After landing, then what? Express shock? Mxm
The resignation of Malooty GiGupta should not be praised. It is overdue.
It's not a virtuous political act.
Let's resist the temptation to set the bar so low that when useless or unethical folks resign LONG AFTER THEY SHOULD HAVE, that we want to heap praise on them.
Don't.
Wow. I took an afternoon nap and woke up to tons of your messages of love and support. I am leaving

at 9am tomorrow as per usual. 👊👇
Zimbabweans are so British it's hilarious for a country trying to topple neocolonial Mugabe! Everyone is as polite as the Queen! Yesterday, high tea, smiling for the official photographer archiving the coup. Today the coup takes a break for Bob to attend a graduation ceremony. ☺
The arrests of the Gupta brothers is great news. It will however at best be a long while before they face a South African court.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa has many questions to answer about his farm.
We can multitask. There are enough hours in the day. Focus on all.
Consider how we would all respond if Jacob Zuma "donated" R30 million to the state to help it investigate him. We would rightly be outraged and suspicious of the implications for the administration of justice.
Money flows from Steinhoff to the NPA should similarly alarm us all.
President Ramaphosa should have axed minister Gigaba already. He's the wrong person to ask taxpayers to dig deep- again- to plug the giant hole created by the state capture nightmare in which he has been a major character for years. He lacks moral authority to sell this budget.
We have some BRILLIANT women lawyers in South Africa and don't recognise their excellence as often we do our excellent male lawyers. Shout out to Adv Hofmeyr who has been amazing since law school (including Jessup World Cup Champ 2002). Great skill on display
#StateCaptureInquiry
If someone's spelling errors interest you more than their sincere attempt to help us all think, productively, about how to make South Africa a more just and inclusive society, then you are part of the problem that person is rightly drawing attention to.
Posters in Phoenix.
The problem isn't with the "ad campaign". That's too generous.
The problem is also not with "whoever did these posters." That too is too generous.
The problem is the DA's political DNA.
These posters aren't a mistake. They REVEAL the DA.
#KnowYourDA
You troll others only because your own life doesn't have enough praiseworthy elements. You're unhappy.
Trolling is a symptom of something lacking in yourself. It's not an achievement. It's a performance of insecurity manifesting as jealousy.
You're disappointed in yourself.
Zweli Mkhize should resign. The evidence of gross power abuse is compelling. But he won't resign for one simple reason: ethical leadership is not expected from ANC politicians by the ANC. Nor is it demanded by Ramaphosa of his ministers.
Moral bankruptcy is now part of ANC DNA.
When it comes to choosing legal representation, Julius Malema and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi temporarily do not see colour, just inner beauty and merit and so on and so forth and stuff like that.
Prof Salim Abdool Karim has instantly become our Dr Anthony Fauci.
(Tune into channel 404 now, fam. Finally the politicians are stepping back a bit and letting the main scientific brain advising Dr Mkhize, speak DIRECTLY to the public. Tune in, if you're not already doing so!)
If you feel sorry for Mr Jacob Zuma, then you do not take the rule of law & constitutional supremacy seriously.
It is not an innocent man returning to prison but one guilty of pissing on the constitution and mocking the AUTHORITY of *the constitutional court*.
Check yourself.
A response to people who think they are profound when asking, "What's scary about a spike in covid-19 numbers? We expected it. It was coming!"
You miss the point: Even if expected, every number is a REAL PERSON infected or dead; a community devastated.
Maintain your humanity.
EFF has scored a massive own goal. [And no, FYI, you are NOT more committed to bringing about an anti-racist society than the rest of us if you agree with EFF vigilantism. That's a false test of commitment to fight racism.]
The story of Zweli Mkhize is a good reminder that we should stop creating media darlings. Media darlings are wrongly seen as un-corruptible.
Everyone can steal.
We should be guided by facts and NOT be fooled by darling charm.
Even Zuma was once charming. Be vigilant, always.
I don't think any government can claim they're seriously committed to keeping covid-19 infections as low as possible & also announce that it approves of 100% loading of taxis.
You cannot square a circle.
Government's approving taxis to be death vectors. That's unconscionable.
If Zuma is struggling to find the words to resign, can we reassure him that we will not be terribly upset if he plagiarises Mbeki's resignation letter? Agreed, compatriots?
How NOT to treat loyalty and excellence: After 30 years of stunning broadcasting, management at
@Radio702
had the audacity of telling amazing
@AkiAnastasiou
he doesn't need to be celebrated "because you're retrenched" Where's the corporate decency?
#ThankYouAki
You can always rely on DA politicians, young and old, to pretend racism is a fiction that should be described with mocking quotation marks - "racism" - to indicate it is not serious, and it is a fiction.
No wonder the useless ANC is unfazed about 2024. The DA is no threat. 1/3
This Zuma contempt judgment handed down by Justice Khampepe is beautiful: clinical, unambiguous, fact-based, legally cogent and, crucially, morally authoritative.
The rule of law only has meaning if it is properly animated. This kind of legal adjudication does exactly that.
Listening to president Cyril Ramaphosa, dispassionately, I cannot focus.
It is not because he is speaking falsehoods.
The problem is that Mr Ramaphosa is *no longer BELIEVABLE*. His word no longer carries moral or political weight.
The computer says 'No'.

Dancer Musa Motha recently received one of the biggest standing ovations in the history of Britain's Got Talent.
Although he now lives in London, he grew up in South Africa and studied dance with the Vuyani Dance Theatre. This is his story:
Xoli Mngambi & Jane Dutton have been suspended by
@eNCA
. Staff were told of their suspensions today.
If not futher explained, this reduces eNCA to the same status as the SABC under Hlaudi Motsoeneng.
The only thing worse than poor commentary by your anchors is to censor them.
The president coughs to skip school. The deputy president is a ghost. Ministers await reshuffling. The economy is stagnant. The cost of living is soaring. Violent crime is a national sport.
The lights are out: a cruel metaphor for an ANC that is now a dark force.
2024 is far.
We need to normalise mentioning the name 'ANC' when telling stories about the economic and deeply personal impact of blackouts- such as a child dying because of lack of oxygen when an inverter runs out of backup power.
The effects of blackouts aren't random natural events. They…
I registered last night. I walked into a vaccination site this morning. I got vaccinated.
Quick. Painless. Efficient.
If registered, PLEASE get vaccinated. It's good for you, good for those you love and who love you & it's good for the population.
Trust science. Just do it.
Thank you to everyone who has been so deeply compassionate throughout the day towards Karima Brown's family & to those us of us who were close to her. Thanks for your humanity. Thank you.
In due course we'll announce details of a memorial service. 🙏
Cumulatively, my area is scheduled for 11 and a half hours of blackouts in a 24 hour period.
Brought to us by the ANC-led state.
Do NOT forget to contextualise Eskom's collapse: it is directly linked to the capture of the South African state, facilitated by corrupt ANC leaders.
Me: Uyajola 9/9 is extremely unethical, often breaks many laws, is nothing but cheap and unimaginative "entertainment" and preys on poor black life in particular. The channel should be ashmed of itself.
Also me: It's time for Uyajola 9/9.
😒
#Uyajola99Sundays
The only thing Redi Tlhabi is "guilty" of is consistently fearless and excellent journalism that holds all sources of power to account for their actions and inactions.
Redi's excellence is a threat to vile individuals and vile families who think they are beyond accountability.
Neither the ANC nor the country need "unity". What we all need is justice: successful criminal prosecutions against those who have looted from the state, and thereafter a "social pact" only with individuals who respect the rule of law and constitutional supremacy. CODESA is over.
I'm astounded at the power of pretty privilege: Nandipha Magudumana isn't accused of stealing a bar of chocolate from a spaza shop. She is implicated in a nexus of violent and vile crimes from desecration of corpses to helping a murderer and rapist escape etc. She isn't a victim.
The chaos in parliament, sustained for an hour already, is emblematic of SA's political crisis.
The ANC doesn't deserve more political power. But the prospect of life under an EFF government is scarier: it would be unpredictable, chaotic. The DA isn't even worth opining on.
A dad ignores the curfew to find milk for his baby- he gets arrested & only THEN does his claim get investigated.
A premier OPENLY ignores the law on wearing a face mask - police ignore her and an "investigation" gets announced.
Some are more equal than others.
#AnimalFarm
Neither the ANC nor Ramaphosa deserve credit for the postponement of the SONA. Their inability to deal with Zuma timeously got us to this undesirable postponement of an important parliamentary event. Kudos instead to the opposition for forcing the ANC into an existential crisis.
This is not funny. Jub Jub and his bodyguards are breaking the law here. This is criminal.
Harassing people is disgusting.
I hope the men laid a charge against them. Shoving people and stopping them leaving is disgusting.
Moja Love sells criminality as ".entertainment".
I've just read
@eNCA
s pathetic excusing of Lindsay Dentingler's behaviour: a) saying she worked under pressure (so racism is excusable on a busy work day??); b) producer was in her ear (WTF...blaming a producer? Mxm); c) citing her CV (so past work is license to be racist); 1/2
Nothing grates a white racist more than a confident black person.
Nothing infuriates the same white racist even MORE intensely than a black person both smarter and more articulate than them despite their privileged access to better education and other opportunities.

The

for parliament has one simple message to voters:
Dear Voter,
We the ANC like the status quo. Ask not what we can do for you but what you can do to keep unethical leaders eating at the trough. Don't vote for change.
Vote for more of the same! Vote ANC!
Great news to start the day with: Bathabile Dlamini has resigned as an ANC MP.
Regardless her self-serving motive (pension benefits etc), this is good for governance.
She was a wrecking ball. Good riddance.
