After dealing with a lot of Kansas wind this week, our state WIND POWER team constructed a blade assembly device to measure how much wind energy it created and answered questions about the principles of alternative energy! Matus and Elijah placed 2nd at State!

These track stars placed in the Varsity meet on Friday night, arrived in Wichita around 11:30pm, was up bright and early to compete all day at the state Science Olympiad meet and finished the day being named STATE CHAMPIONS in Write It Down It! Congratulations, Elijah and Dane!

The towers these two have built all season have been impressive! The state tower disappointed them a bit because it is the 1st one to break before holding all of the 15 Kg of sand! It did perform well enough to earn Elijah and Matus 3rd place!

Our experts on geometric & physical optics are Ethan and Matus! They answered questions about these topics and “blindly” position mirrors to direct a laser beam to cross over several grid lines to earn more points and hit a specific target. They are STATE CHAMPIONS in OPTICS!

Oscar and Lizzie carried on the tradition of state medalists in FOSSILS by bringing home 2nd place! They can identify fossil specimens, their taxonomic classifications, and common modes of preservation.

These two had a tough time solving the state Forensics scenario because the set up was a little different, but these crime solvers are top notch detectives! Rachel and Adria placed 2nd at the STATE competition in Wichita yesterday!

Experimental Design requires these 3 to work cohesively to quickly analyze the given supplies, design an exp., come up with a hypothesis, perform the exp. and collect data, all while writing up an excellent report within 50 minutes! Adria, Lori, and Nate placed 3rd at STATE!

Payden and Oscar bugged me this week because they were so cool, calm, and collected about their Entomology notes! The best way to prove that you know about BUGS is to be named STATE CHAMPIONS in Entomology at the KS State Science Olympiad Tournament!

These two are going to change the 🌎 someday! Their focus on the planet-specifically the processes involving the cryosphere of the Earth, with an emphasis on glaciers-earned them 2nd place in Dynamic Planet at STATE yesterday! Great job, Leah and Gracie!
