ENCORE! Reverse glass gilded sign commission. Here the design is first painted onto the reverse of the glass then gilded with gold leaf. Traditionally the gilding is applied first, that way the glass can be scolded with boiling water. The heat gives a bright gild. #WIP

What’s going on? We are replicating iron pyrite (fools gold) found in lapis lazuli using gold leaf. This is a traditional painted faux finish carried out using oils. #historicdecorativecraft #marbling #paintedecoration #historicinteriors

The ancient craft of coquille d'oeuf is a ancient finish using eggshells. Eggshells are cracked and glued into position on a prepped ground, here it was gilded. Further paint was applied allowing the gold to 'grin' through. A fly got encapsulated... #SpotTheFly #coquilledeouf
