An Open Window by Winslow Homer at the Portland Museum of Art, Portland Maine USA. This pose reminds me of every bot account that follows me on this site. The slight alteration in balance is different. — also the way the upper window blocks her distant view. Usually the fantasy

Here’s a little piece we made for a wedding present. I like when people feel symbolic. Lots of fused glass here. A collaboration with artist @justinezakiglass on insta.

“Light-filled” is an innocent cliché of architect-speak, but in physical space, nobody wants to sit in this lunchroom. You can’t read a screen or even a book in this blazing sun, and on a 78 degree day in the fall, it’s over 90 in this room. Buildings are getting designed with

Here’s one of the California Tile books. There’s a series, maybe 2 or three. I’d like to check out the museum sometime if my kids ever move to Southern California.

Some cups I made for gifts. I ordered the cups already bisque-fired and then painted them with low-fire underglaze. I looked at the California Tiles books for inspiration, they are beautifully done. Thanks to Eve for the clay lesson!

A nice antique Victorian window with bevels in the middle. We re-leaded it and tried to equalize the colors which had been repaired on-site over the years.

A friend of mine bought one of my paintings. Here she moved it to a different spot in her house. Isn’t it fun how framing and placement makes such a difference?

Another antique from Elm Hill. Whoever cut it used the grain of the textured glass to lead the eye through the design. It’s varied in places as well. This is the kind of thing I love to get from old windows.

When we approach a new project, my first question is “why glass?” What can we do with glass here that can only be done with glass? There is always tension with the idea, the subject matter that our clients want, their vision which is so affected by online pictures, and the way.

An unusually strong Art Nouveau influence in the design of this window in Boston Massachusetts. Most are more Victorian without these swooping lines. There are a variety of colors in the green leaves and scrolls, possibly it’s a repair or maybe it was part of the original design.
